Montreal Canadiens vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction, NHL Odds
The Montreal Canadiens finally got back on the right track by beating the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 in overtime on Monday. It put an end to their three-game losing skid where they didn’t score over two goals in any of those contests. Now they get to face off with the reigning champs, the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado has won four out of their last five games coming into this, escaping with a very narrow 1-0 shootout win over the New York Islanders on Monday.
The Avs are -285 favourites to win on the NHL odds, with a total of 5.5.
Canadiens vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds
The Canadiens are just 17-37 in their last 54 games against teams with a winning record on the year. However, they are 4-1 in their last five games played on a Wednesday. As for the total, the under has cashed out in four out of their last five games against teams from the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Avalanche are 41-19 in their last 60 games played against teams from the Atlantic Division. They are also 40-19 in their last 59 games against teams from the Eastern Conference in general. The total has watched the under cash in their last seven games played at home and their last four against teams with a losing overall record.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens haven’t had much production on either end of the ice, ranking 27th in goals per game and 24th in goals-against per game. That explains why they’re in the basement of the Eastern Conference standings with just 32 points.
Offensively, Nick Suzuki has led the way with 31 points, scoring a point in six out of his past 10 contests. Montreal has scored two goals or less in six out of their last 10 games overall, which means the under has been good a bet for them. Eventually, their offence is going to need to turn it up if they want to start winning games.
In net, Jake Allen has been the starter for most of the year with a 9-12-0 record, 3.33 GAA and an .897 save percentage. When he’s not out there, the Canadiens turn to Sam Montembeault, their starter on Monday. Montembeault has been better statistically, but not by much, with a 6-3-2 record, a 2.89 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche have been average offensively and that’s a surprise. Part of it can be explained by the loss of star skater Nathan MacKinnon. He’s not expected to be back on the ice until January. Luckily, Mikko Rantanen has picked up the slack this season with 38 points, 21 of them being goals.
If Colorado’s offence is able to get going, they are usually in a great position to win games. Alexandar Georgiev has been excellent in the net. He’s 13-8-2 on the year with a 2.46 GAA and a .923 save percentage to go with it. If he gets the nod, Colorado will be in a great position to win.
