The Toronto Maple Leafs play their regular-season finale Friday as they host Original Six rival Boston with Toronto resting key players. The Leafs are short underdogs on the NHL odds.

Bruins vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds

Friday is the final day of the NHL regular season for all but Seattle and Winnipeg as they will play a makeup game on Sunday for some reason even though both teams are eliminated from playoff contention.

Toronto looks for the season sweep of the Bruins after winning 5-2 at home on Nov. 6 and 6-4 in Boston on March 29. Mitchell Marner (2G, 4A) leads the Leafs with six points in the series, while John Tavares (2G, 3A) has five and Auston Matthews (3G, 1A) four. Erik Kallgren and Jack Campbell each got a win in net.

Brad Marchand (3A) and David Pastrnak (2G, 1A) lead Boston with three points each in the series. Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman both saw time in net.

The total has gone over in five of the past seven meetings. They could meet in the first round of the playoffs (see below).

Boston Bruins

It’s an interesting spot for Boston. The Bruins could not care, rest guys, take a wild-card spot and face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs. However, a win of any kind vs. Toronto and a loss of any kind for the Tampa Bay Lightning at the New York Islanders, and Boston will face Toronto in Round 1. As of now, Boston is planning to play everyone following a 5-0 home win vs. Buffalo on Thursday. Patrice Bergeron had a hat trick to reach 400 career goals. He and Mark Messier are the only players to complete a hat trick with their 400th goal. Ullmark was in net for that game, but it will be Swayman tonight. He is 20-11-3 with a 2.34 GAA and .915 SV. He leads all rookies in GAA, save percentage, wins and shutouts (3). The Bruins are 12-3 in their past 15 vs. the Atlantic Division.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Other than being a home game, the Leafs really have no motivation here as they are locked into second place in the Atlantic Division. The one big individual milestone was for Matthews to reach the coveted 60-goal mark and win the Rocket Richard Trophy for the second year in a row. Matthews scored twice in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Detroit to reach 60 and is going to win the Rocket Richard even though he will sit this one out as will Marner. Tavares might (decision TBA as of this writing). There was some hope that defenceman Rasmus Sandin would be able to play for the first time since March 19 due to a knee injury but that will not be the case. Winger Michael Bunting, out since April 23, will not play, either. Both should be good to go in the playoffs. It will be the rookie Kallgren (7-4-1, 3.42 GAA, .886 SV) in net. The Leafs are 3-7 in their past 10 as home dogs.
