Boston Bruins vs. Winnipeg Jets: NHL Odds, Prediction
The Jets and Bruins may play in different conferences, but they are in a very similar spot heading into the last two weeks of the regular season. Both clubs are comfortably in second place in their respective divisions, have clinched playoff spots, but are trying to chase down the division leader.
Bruins vs. Jets Betting Analysis
The Bruins have had the Jets number the last while, winners of four straight entering this game Tuesday evening. In fact, you have to go back to December 2014 to find the last time the Jets beat the Bruins on home ice (2-1). Overall, the home team in the head-to-head series is 23-8 in the last 31 meetings. The Jets have played the Atlantic division well this season, 6-3-3 overall and winners of five straight against them. The Bruins are a respectable 7-4-2 against the Central this season.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins conclude their four-game road trip with a stop in Winnipeg Tuesday night. So far, they are 2-1 after knocking off the Minnesota Wild Sunday night. That game marked the return of all-star center Patrice Bergeron to the lineup and he didn’t look out of place. Bergeron has been out of the Bruins lineup (broken foot) since February 25 but managed to assist on both Bruins goals including the overtime winner in just over 19 minutes of action. His line with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak will be key to any success the Bruins have this postseason. When clicking, it could be considered the best complete line in the NHL. The Bruins are banged up as of late, with captain Zdeno Chara, David Backes, and Charlie McAvoy on the sidelines.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets have picked a good time to get hot heading down the streak drive of the regular season. Despite some key injuries to the defensive core, the Jets are riding a five-game winning streak, and are getting some great individual efforts from some younger players on the roster. Winnipeg’s 21-year-old Kyle Connor was named the NHL’s third star of the week, registering four goals and two assists, including a pair of overtime winners. He now has 29 goals on the season, tied for first in rookie goals and fifth in rookie points with 50 points (29 goals, 21 assists). He has flourished in a first line role along side Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele.
On the injury front, Toby Enstrom is still listed as day-to-day, and Jacob Trouba has started skating in non-contact drills with the hockey club. There is no indication when the two defenceman will return to the line-up, but there is hope it will be before the start of the post season.
