Boston Bruins vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds
Winnipeg remains in the West’s final Wild-Card spot but are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games and have two teams hot on their trail. The Bruins are the frontrunner to end up as this season’s Presidents’ Trophy winner but are currently on a two-game skid.
Thursday’s game three of a five-game road trip for Boston while Winnipeg’s returning home amidst a long stretch on the road. Home ice hasn’t been any solution for Winnipeg though as they’ve dropped five of their last six at the Canada Life Centre. Puck drop there goes at 8 p.m. EDT with Boston a -165 moneyline favourite on the road and the total at six on the NHL odds.
Bruins vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds
The Bruins have a lone regulation loss in their most recent 10 clashes with the Jets. There only other meeting this season with Winnipeg ended in a 3-2 Bruins win on December 22, a contest the Jets blew a two-goal lead in. Head-to-head, 10 of the last 15 Bruins–Jets games played in Winnipeg have finished under the total.
The under is 21-10-3 in Winnipeg’s 34 home games so far. Seven of the Jets last 10 against Eastern Conference opponents have finished under too. Four of Boston’s last six against the Central Division have finished under. Boston is 7-2 in their last nine against the West.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins last two losses have something rare in common: Boston got lit up on the scoreboard. Eleven goals in back-to-back losses is extremely uncharacteristic for the league’s best team at defending goals, and the first times Boston’s allowed more than three goals since February 23.
As the season begins to wind down and Boston has a comfortable lead on the top spot in the conference, head coach Jim Montgomery has been rotating the league’s best tandem in net. Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman have alternated Boston’s last 11 games, meaning it would be Swayman’s turn Thursday. Swayman has a .916 save percentage in 28 games, while Ullmark is the odds on Vezina Trophy favourite.
Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg ended a three-game Eastern road trip on a down note, losing 5-3 at Carolina on Tuesday. The loss broke up a two-game win streak achieved on the weekend which was much needed for the Jets. Backup David Rittich picked up the loss Tuesday making 20 saves on 24 shots. Nino Niederreiter scored his fourth goal since getting traded over to the Jets and all four goals have come in Winnipeg’s last five games.
Leading scorer Mark Scheifele remains stuck on a career-best 38 goals. He and the Jets top-six have had a rough two games, as both Scheifele and Kyle Connor finished -4 and off the score sheet in Carolina.
