The Boston Bruins look to continue their season dominance over the Flyers when they head to Philadelphia for a Saturday afternoon matchup.  These teams also met in Philadelphia on Tuesday, which ended in a 4-2 Boston win.

The Bruins are -125 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5.

Bruins vs. Flyers Betting Analysis

This will be the eighth and final regular season meeting between these teams this year.  Boston has taken six of the previous seven games and outscored the Flyers by a combined score of 30-17.  Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron scored a hat trick in the latest win on Tuesday.

Boston has had no mercy for Philadelphia, as the Bruins have won seven of the last 10 games against the Flyers, dating back to last season.  The B’s, however, have struggled to cover this season, going 12-25 against the spread.  Goals seem to be coming back to Boston though, as they’ve hit the Over in four of their last six games overall.

Most teams get a little boost when they play at home, but not Philly.  The Flyers are 8-8-3 at Wells Fargo Center and they’ve lost four of their last five home games against Boston.

Boston Bruins

This is a big game for both teams.  Boston holds a six-point lead over the Flyers for the final playoff spot in the East Division, so this is essentially a four-point game.  The Bruins need to win and they need to do it in regulation.  They’ll need to pick up the win without their starting and backup goalies, though.  Tuukka Rask still isn’t ready to return from an upper-body injury and Jaroslav Halak is in COVID protocols.  In their absence, Boston has been relying on rookie goaltenders, Dan Vladar and Jeremy Swayman.  Vladar is 2-1-1 with a 2.25 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.  Swayman has won his first two career starts and stopped 71 of 75 shots he’s faced in the NHL.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philadelphia needs to be in the mindset that this game could make or break their playoff chances because realistically that’s exactly what’s at stake.  The Flyers have played two more games than Boston, have six less points in the standings and won’t get any more chances against the Bruins after Saturday.  Jakub Vorachek and Nicolas Aube-Kubel picked up goals in Philly’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Islanders on Thursday.  The veteran Vorachek has been the biggest part of the Flyers’ offence this season.  He’s leading the team in scoring with 32 points (7G, 25A) in 36 games.
