The Canadiens skated to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, which marks just their sixth win in their past 21 games overall. The Bruins travel north of the border after suffering a tough 5-1 loss to St. Louis on Monday, and have also fallen to defeat in four of their past five road contests.

Despite their recent run of inconsistent results, the Bruins arrive in Montreal perched as strong -225 favourites on the Thursday NHL odds, and are a short +110 puck line bet to claim a multi-goal victory. The Canadiens trail as +180 underdogs and -120 odds favour the total going UNDER 6.

Bruins vs. Canadiens NHL Betting Odds

The Bruins have dominated the Canadiens in head-to-head action in recent years, winning 12 of their past 13 matchups, with the lone exception over that stretch being a 3-2 overtime loss in Montreal back on November 11. Overall, 10 of their recent 12 wins have come by multi-goal margins, with Bruins shooters averaging 4.77 goals per game during their current 12-0-1 head-to-head run. However, the Bruins have struggled to maintain a consistent attack of late, scoring just one goal in each of their three losses during a 3-2-1 run, and have averaged just 2.40 goals per game while losing four of their past five road games.

The Canadiens have also struggled to score, potting just six total goals while losing two of their past three games, and rank 29th in the NHL with just 2.67 goals scored per game at home this season. That dismal performance extends to recent home dates with Boston, with Habs shooters mustering just 2.30 goals per game in the Bruins’ past 10 visits to Bell Centre. The Canadiens’ recent offensive struggles have spawned a 3-0 run in totals betting for the UNDER, which has also gone 8-4-1 over the club’s past 13 home dates.

Boston Bruins

A visit to Bell Centre may be just what the Bruins need to get past their recent struggles. The club was unable to overcome a sloppy start in Monday’s loss to the Blues, spotting St. Louis an early 4-0 lead on the way to a 5-1 defeat despite outshooting their opponents by a wide 37-22 margin. David Pastrnak potted his 41st goal of the season in the loss, and has now scored in three straight games. Pastrnak has regularly feasted on the Canadiens, scoring six times and recording 14 total points over his past four vs the Habs and is a solid +135 bet on the NHL player props to pick up OVER 1.5 points on Thursday.

Montreal Canadiens

While wins have come at a premium for the Canadiens, the club has managed to pick up at least a point in five of seven outings to avoid falling into the basement in the Eastern Conference standings. Juraj Slafkovsky has shown signs that he is ready to bust out of his recent swoon with three points over his past two games including a goal in Tuesday’s win over Columbus. However, the real hero on Tuesday night was Cayden Primeau, who turned aside all 41 shots he faced, and has now allowed just six total goals in four starts. However, it looks like that Sam Montembeault will get the call on Thursday despite allowing at least three goals on six occasions while earning just one win in seven outings.
