Looking for back-to-back wins for the first time in this new season, the Jets will have to do it without their head coach Rick Tocchet.

St. Louis is also trying to win two in a row after picking up their second win of the season against Pittsburgh on Saturday night.

The NHL’s continuous action on Tuesday features a rare 8:45 P.M. ET puck drop from Canada Life Centre. Our NHL odds have the Jets as -185 favourites with the OVER/UNDER set at 6.5 goals.

Blues vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds

In their past 10 meetings, the Jets have won eight times. The Blues shut out Winnipeg in their most recent matchup, but have surrendered four or more goals in eight of the last 10, an average of 3.6 goals against per game. In the same stretch, Winnipeg has done a wonderful job of shutting down the Blues offence, holding them to just 19 goals (1.9 per game) and shutting them out twice.

The Blues offence is off to a worrisome slow start, scoring more than twice in a game just once through their first four games. They are averaging only two goals a game and are 1-3 on the Over/Under after letting in six versus the Coyotes. They have covered two games so far and have won their only game on the road.

Winnipeg has been giving up tons of goals in this early season, a total of 21 through five games tying them for fourth most in the league. They played a bit more defensive in their most recent 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers, after giving up four or more in the first four games. Their OVER/UNDER record sits at 3-2 and they have covered the spread in both of their wins.

St. Louis Blues

After an ugly 6-2 loss at the hands of the Arizona Coyotes, the Blues bounced back to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2. St. Louis has lost only one game in regulation as they hit the road for four straight starting Tuesday in the ‘Peg.

Brandon Saad scored his first two goals of the season in the win, both were assisted by Robert Thomas, while Colton Parayko and Jake Neighbours also got their firsts of the year.

Saad found immediate chemistry on the top line in Pavel Buchnevic’s spot while he is recovering from an upper-body injury. There is a chance Buchnevic could return for Tuesday after taking some contact in practice on Monday.

Jordan Binnington is looking at a redemption season early on, posting a 2-0-1 record with a 1.26 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. His numbers are second-best amongst goalies who have played at least three games.

Winnipeg Jets

Jets bench boss, Rick Bowness announced Monday that he will be away from the team due to a family emergency. Scott Arniel will pose as the team’s head coach in his absence, so expect the squad to be a little extra motivated on Tuesday at home.

Winnipeg bounced back from back-to-back losses on Saturday night coming back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Oilers 3-2 in overtime. Their special teams did the damage on the score with Josh Morrissey (1) notching a powerplay goal before Vladislav Namestikov scored shorthanded to tie the game. Mark Scheifele stayed hot, ending the game with his fourth goal and sixth point of the season.

A lot of the credit went to goalie Connor Hellebuyck who had his best game of the campaign so far. He turned away 38 of 40 shots, allowing just two goals for the first in four starts and improving to 2-2.
