Nevertheless, they got the better of the Kraken at home on Tuesday, winning 4-3. Detroit returns home after spending Wednesday evening at Madison Square Garden. It was a tight game against the Rangers, but the latter earned a 3-2 win.
The Red Wings are considerable -210 favourites to win at home, as per the NHL odds. They’re priced at +115 on the puckline.

If the past couple of seasons and current-year figures are anything to go by, betters might want to consider the over for this match. The middle frame produced dividends for the hosts even though they were getting outshot, as both Tyler Johnson (sixth) and MacKenzie Entwistle (second) made it a 4-2 game. Chicago was desperate in the third period, allowing Seattle to make it a one-score game and repelling numerous chances to send it to overtime. Arguably the most positive sign was that the Blackhawks won the game with Connor McDavid earning a single point.

Detroit has been scoring at will this season, but sooner or later they were going to hit a brick wall. On Wednesday, that wall was Rangers’ goalie Igor Shesterkin.
It probably didn’t help that the Red Wings entered the lion’s den two days after the Rangers were embarrassed at home 5-1 by the Sabres. The hosts were looking to bounce back in a big way, especially against a Detroit side that’s been surprisingly quick at climbing the standings. The Red Wings were stymied several times by Shesterkin, not to mention outshot overall 41-27. Credit to Ville Husso, who put on a show throughout the match. For the second time in a few weeks, the Red Wings lost on a wholly unexpected, technically brilliant game-winning goal. With the score tied 2-2 and barely four minutes to go, New York’s Jimmy Vesey (fifth) pounced on a rebounding puck in Husso’s crease. The disc bounced high enough for Vesey to cleverly bat it into the net. That’s just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
