There will be no love lost in tonight’s Valentine’s day matchup between Central division rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Winnipeg Jets.

The Jets and Hawks sit in sixth and seventh place respectively in the Central Division, separated by a total of seven points. The puck drops at 9:00 p.m. EST and the Jets are -163 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 5.5.

Winnipeg took a 5-1 win over Chicago in their first meeting of the season back in November. Andrew Copp had a three-point night as his Jets outshot the Hawks 33-18. The home team is 4-0 in their last four head-to-heads, splitting the Over/Under in that stretch. They will wrap up the season series with their third meeting on March 20th.

The Blackhawks are riding a 4-0 Under trend over their past few games. Their offence is struggling and has been held to a single goal in three of their last four games. Their record ATS is an impressive 23-15, but they have only covered once in the last five contests.

The Jets have covered the spread in four of their past five games, bumping them to a 25-20 record ATS. They have split the Over/Under 5-5 in their last ten, a stretch where they went 3-5-2.

Dylan Strome’s power-play marker was all the offence the Blackhawks could achieve in Saturday’s 5-1 loss at the hands of the St. Louis Blues. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury allowed five goals on 31 shots, picking up his fourth loss in his past five starts.

Fleury’s recent struggles have put him in the middle of trade speculation. He has a 3.40 goals-against average with an .885 save percentage in his last five games.

Chicago will return home Thursday to begin a six-game homestand.

Winnipeg Jets

Captain Blake Wheeler put his Jets back in the win column Saturday night with a 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators. Wheeler scored a pair of goals and added three assists, tying the franchise record for points in a single game. Kyle Connor continued his recent tear as well, picking up a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to five games.

Winnipeg will continue their four-game homestand on Wednesday when they take on the Minnesota Wild.
