Fresh off their bye week, the Baltimore Ravens are trying to put a 41-17 beatdown against Cincinnati in Week 7 behind them when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.  Minnesota is coming off their own loss, a 20-16 defeat at the hands of the Cowboys.

Baltimore is a 6-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 49.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

There’s not much history between these teams as they haven’t met since a 24-16 Minnesota home win in 2017.  The Ravens are enjoying most of the betting public’s confidence for this one, however, with 79 per cent of action taking Baltimore.  The total is nearly an even split, although the Over does have a slight 52 per cent majority.

Minnesota has managed to go 3-4 on the year, winning just one of three road games.  The total has gone Under in four of their last five games, although they’ve hit the Over in five straight road games dating back to last season.  The Viking are 3-4 against the spread, covering in two of three games outside of Minnesota.

At 5-2, the Ravens are currently the top dog in the AFC North.  They’ve won five of their last six games overall and six of their last seven at home.  Baltimore can put points on the board at home, where they’ve hit the Over in three of four contests.  They’re 3-4 ATS this season, covering in two of four home games.

Minnesota Vikings

It’s safe to say the Vikings blew a pretty big opportunity to steal a win last week, when they lost to a Dallas team without Dak Prescott under centre.  Minnesota actually led for the majority of the game thanks to three made field goals from Greg Joseph, but Kirk Cousins struggled to get anything done with the offence.  Cousins went 23-for-35, finishing with 184 passing yards and a touchdown.  Minnesota’s offence was only able to put up 278 offensive yards against a Dallas defence that allowed the second-highest yards-per-game average in the NFL.  The Vikings converted on just one of 13 third downs and eight of 12 possessions lasted five plays or fewer.

Defensive end Danielle Hunter suffered a season-ending torn pectoral muscle in the second quarter.  Cornerback Patrick Peterson (hamstring) missed last week’s game and will miss at least two more after being placed on injured reserve.  Defensive tackle Michael Pierce (elbow) returned to practice this week and is hopeful to play after missing the last three games.

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore’s bye last week likely tasted bitter after getting blown out by division rival Cincinnati in Week 7.  It was an up and down day for Lamar Jackson who threw for 287 yards and added another 88 on the ground, but was sacked five times.  Jackson threw no picks, but he was held to a single passing touchdown to Marquise Brown.  Brown and Rashod Bateman each finished with 80 receiving yards.  Devonta Freeman added a rushing touchdown, with 14 yards on four carries.  Right tackle Patrick Mekari left in the second quarter with an ankle injury.  Mekari is expected to miss some time, but there’s currently no timetable for his return.
