Vikings vs. Panthers Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction

The Panthers might be getting back their top offensive player this week – and not a moment too soon as they look to put the brakes on a two-game skid Sunday against Minnesota.

The Panthers have dropped consecutive games to Dallas and Philadelphia after opening 2021 with three straight victories – and they’re home underdogs despite tangling with a Vikings team that has lost its first two road games of the season.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This one is almost too close to call for oddsmakers – and the betting public is right there with them. A minuscule 51 percent majority of Sports Interaction participants are taking Carolina to cover, even though they’re just 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 games as a home underdog dating back to the end of the 2018 season. It’s also notable that the Vikings are 6-3 ATS in their last nine as a road fave, though they’ve dropped two straight in that situation.

There isn’t much of a consensus on the totals side, either, with just 54 percent of SIA bettors siding with the O46 at -110. The Vikings have been a terrific Over play in recent road games, boasting a 4-0 record in their past four while averaging a whopping 68.8 combined points in those contests. That runs counter to Carolina’s recent home play, in which the Panthers have reeled off four straight Unders with an average of just 36.3 total points in that span.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings’ offence could use a shot in the arm, having produced just 26 points over the past two games. And the return of star running back Dalvin Cook certainly puts Minnesota in a better position to light up the scoreboard. Cook is expected to hit the field Sunday after missing last week’s win over Detroit with an ankle injury. Cook has appeared in just three of Minnesota’s first five games, compiling 226 rushing yards on 51 attempts (4.4 YPC) with one TD.

Carolina Panthers

While Cook is a near-lock to return this weekend, there’s a little more doubt surrounding Panthers superstar Christian McCaffrey. The veteran running back is considered questionable for Sunday’s matchup; he hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 3. McCaffrey is off to a slow start by his lofty standards with just one touchdown and a 3.9 YPC average, but Carolina is 3-0 SU with McCaffrey in the lineup and 0-2 SU without him.
