It’s safe to say nothing, absolutely nothing will compare to what we all witnessed last Monday night. So, please don’t make that comparison to this game on the schedule. The Texans are hot right now, with the league’s second longest winning streak, as they look to face a Titans team that could cut that lead in half with a victory in prime time.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These two teams met back in week two of the season, where the Titans upended the Texans 20-17 in Nashville. The Titans have won three of the last four games against the Texans. The one loss was last season in Houston where the Texans crushed the Titans 57-14 in Houston, the largest margin of victory in the franchise’s history. The Titans are 0-4 against the spread in their last four meetings in Houston, and the home team is 5-0 ATS in the last five games.

Finally, the Titans have been very good against the division going 7-2 in the last nine games dating back to last season. That is good news considering three of their final six games remaining are against the AFC South.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans took it on the chin this past Sunday versus Indianapolis. First, it was an embarrassing 38-10 loss to the division rival. Second, franchise quarterback Marcus Mariota was knocked out of this game due to an elbow injury. Mariota who has been dealing with injuries all season, was a limited participate at Titans practice earlier this week. If Mariota is unable to make the Monday night start, back-up Blaine Gabbert will get the call. Gabbert passed for 118 yards and one touchdown in relief of Mariota on Sunday afternoon. Protection for Mariota seems to be in issue for Tennessee. In nine games this season, he’s been sacked 29 times. Mariota was sacked just 27 times in 15 games during the 2017 season, and even less the season before.

Regardless of who has played quarterback or offensive line, this offence has been dismal, currently ranked 30^th in total offence (295.4) and 28^th in points scored (17.8). The Titans have been the second-stingiest team at allowing touchdowns in the red zone this season, as opponents have cashed in for six on just 42.9 percent of their trips. The Texans offence ranks 29^th in the league in this category, scoring a touchdown on 45 percent of its trips in the red zone. Of note, it’s a return game for Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel who was on the Texans coaching staff for many years, including last season when he was the team’s defensive coordinator.

Houston Texans

It’s been a complete turnaround season for the Texans dating back to week four of the season. Flashback to the first three weeks; loss to the Patriots, loss to the Titans, loss to the Giants, and since that time, nothing but wins. This past Sunday, a win against the Redskins made it seven in a row, and officially the hottest team in the AFC (second overall to the Saints). Overall health might be the main reason for this team’s success. Deshaun Watson who spent nine games on the IR last season appears to be gaining confidence with every throw. He has just over 2,500 passing yards this season, ranking him just outside the top ten.

Three-time defensive player of the year J.J. Watt is tied for fourth place with 10 sacks through 10 games. He missed 11 games last season. Watt leads a defence that is atop the NFL in many categories including; total defence (330.5), passing yards against (234.5), and rushing yards against (96) both of these players are the stars of the offence and defence. The craziest stat with this team you ask? Receiver DeAndre Hopkins is responsible for 36.6 percent of the Texans receiving yards this year. That is the highest percentage of a team’s total by a single player this season.
