The winner of Sunday’s AFC South matchup between the Titans and Jaguars will get out of last in the division, which at this point could cause big draft consequences.

Both the Titans and Jaguars enter Week 17 with identical 3-12 records, which has them holding the third and fourth overall draft picks respectively. The loser of this matchup on Sunday will almost be guaranteed a top-three draft pick, whereas the winner could jump all the way up to picking nine overall.

And with 3-12 records, both Tennessee and Jacksonville are obviously eliminated from playoff contention and have no benefit to winning this game. That is unless you talk to the players and coaches auditioning for next season.

Kickoff at EverBank Stadium gets started at 1 p.m. EST with NFL oddsmakers currently listing this game as a pick’em and the over-under at 40 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Titans remain a league-worst 2-13 against the spread this season. Against Jacksonville that tends to change though as Tennessee has covered in 10 of their last 15 matchups against the Jags. It’s a similar trend with the total too, as seven straight Titans games have finished over the total but 10 of the last 14 Titans–Jags contests played in Jacksonville have finished under.

Both teams are in the bottom quarter of the NFL in scoring, averaging under 19 points a game. But on the road, Tennessee’s been able to score over 21 points a game this season. The Titans have scored 57 points combined in their last two rod games, but fell 37-27 and 38-30 as what was once a top defence in the NFL appears to be running out of gas.

Tennessee Titans

Last weekend the Titans allowed a franchise-worst 335 rushing yards (as the Tennessee franchise era that began in 1997). Three late touchdowns made a 38-7 game look respectable, as the Titans fell 38-30 to Indianapolis. New starting QB Mason Rudolph eclipsed 250 passing yards and two touchdown passes, but also tossed three interceptions. Two of the three interceptions ended up in Indianapolis TD drives, and the other ended the game. Rudolph and Will Levis, Tennessee’s two quarterbacks, have now totalled 20 TDs and 20 INTs this season.

Running back Tony Pollard has reached 1,000 rushing yards for the third straight season, and now has a career high 1,017 yards this season after going for 1,007 and 1,005 the last two years. Leading receiver Calvin Ridley is 143 receiving yards shy of his third 1,000-yard campaign.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Injuries are starting to pile up for an already talent-depleted Jaguars squad. Left tackle Walker Little injuries his ankle during last week’s loss at Las Vegas and is likely out in Week 17. Safety Darnell Savage (head) and linebacker Ventrell Miller (ankle) are also being evaluated after suffering the injuries last weekend. Little joins QB Trevor Lawrence, TE Evan Engram, and WRs Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis as impactful Jaguars out of the lineup with injuries.

Starting quarterback Mac Jones has again turned to rookie phenom Brian Thomas Jr. as his top weapon, as the rookie led Jacksonville again with nine catches for 132 yards and a TD last week. Thomas Jr. is now sixth in the NFL with 1,088 receiving yards and one of the lone bright spots in a miserable Jaguars season. Jones has played the majority of Jacksonville’s last six contests, and they’ve gone over 20 points just once.
