Titans vs. Chargers Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
The Tennessee Titans had lost two in a row entering last week but it seemed understandable as they fell to elite, playoff-caliber teams. It’s tougher for them to explain getting blown out at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Los Angeles Chargers are a very inconsistent team from week-to-week but they’ve won two out of their last three to post the same record as Tennessee. Which of these two squads can improve their playoff positioning in the AFC?
The Chargers are 3-point favourites to win on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Titans are 4-0 ATS in their past four games when coming off a double-digit loss at home in their previous matchup. They are also 5-1 ATS in their last six games played on the road. As for the total, the over has cashed out in their last four games coming off an ATS loss. However, the under is 6-1 in their last seven against teams from the AFC Conference.
The Chargers are 10-3 ATS in their past 13 matchups when they fail to rush for over 90 yards in the previous contest. They are also 7-20 ATS in their last 27 home games against a team with a winning road record on the year. Their totals have seen the over-cash out in their last four home games against teams with a winning road record.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans’ biggest strength also happens to be their biggest weakness: the run game. While it’s the lifeblood of this offence, they tend to struggle when Derrick Henry can’t get going. When he gets bottled up, this team doesn’t usually know where else they can go offensively. Henry had 121 yards rushing last week but that was the first time in five weeks that he was above 87.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is listed as questionable for this game but he is expected to play. He might have to do so without his best two receivers as both Robert Woods and Treylon Burks are questionable themselves. It feels like things are falling apart for this team at the worst possible time. We’ll see if they can ride King Henry on Sunday and turn things around. The good news is the Chargers have the worst run defence in the NFL in terms of yards per carry as nobody allows more than the 5.4 they permit.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers won’t have much sympathy for the Titans’ injuries as they have a lot of talent sitting on injured reserve right now. While some of them might be making a return later in the year, they won’t be coming back for this game with Tennessee. Justin Herbert and crew are going to have to ride with that next-man-up mentality. Herbert was throwing darts to both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams throughout their win over the Miami Dolphins a week ago.
We know that the offence can cook but it was the defence where they really started to shine. They were playing without Joey Bosa again, Derwin James, Sebastian Joseph-Day, and many others. Yet somehow, they found a way to bottle up the explosive Miami offence. We’ll see if they can duplicate that performance with many of the same names still out.
