Texans vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 2 Odds, Prediction
The Cowboys are expecting to be without quarterback Dak Prescott, who will likely sit out the entire preseason to ensure he’s healthy for the start of the situation. But there’s some good news for Big D, as well, with wide receiver Amari Cooper saying he has been told he’ll play Saturday.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Despite their roster uncertainty entering the second preseason game, the Cowboys are four-point home favourites against a Texans team picked by many pundits to finish near the bottom of the NFL standings this season. Still, Houston is on an impressive 6-3 ATS streak over its previous nine games, including a successful cover in its preseason opener. The Cowboys, on the flip side, are a dreadful 5-13 ATS in their last 18 contests.
The total for Saturday is installed at 37.5, with the Over and Under at an identical -110. The Texans have converted the Under in six of their past nine games overall, and have gone 4-1 to the Under in their previous five visits to AT&T Stadium. And the red-hot Under stretch between these teams goes even deeper than that, with only one of their last nine head-to-head meetings surpassing the number.
Houston Texans
The second preseason game for the Texans should help create a little more clarity surrounding the team’s running back and wide receiver picture, with several candidates at both positions expected to see action. But that’s not how the quarterback time will be divided up, with Tyrod Taylor expected to see the bulk of the playing time. Deshaun Watson isn’t likely to suit up for the Texans again, leaving Taylor as the odds-on favourite to start Week 1.
Dallas Cowboys
As Cooper prepares to make his preseason debut, he has a message for fans: He wants “the gravy”. That means leading the Cowboys back to prominence after two consecutive non-playoff seasons. Dallas is presently installed as a -159 favourite to end its postseason drought (compared with +110 to miss the playoffs yet again), and they enter with a win total of 9.5 (though the Under is set at -133 while the Over is installed at -105).
