There are big spreads – and then there’s the massive odds chasm between the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, who square off Sunday afternoon in Glendale. The Cardinals are favoured by more than two touchdowns as they look to remain the lone unbeaten team in the NFL – and those looking for massive payday in Week 7 action might consider an outright play on the underdog Texans, though that’s a bold call given their road struggles in 2021.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This is easily the biggest spread of the NFL season to date – and the most points the Cardinals have been favoured in franchise history. And despite the massive gap, 62 percent of the Sports Interaction betting public is siding with the unbeaten hosts. You have to lower the spread to seven or more points to get a recent sample relevant to this team – and Arizona has gone a perfect 3-0 SU and ATS in three games at -7 or better since 2020.

The totals trends are nearly identical, with 61 percent of SIA bettors siding with the O47.5 at -110. The Cardinals have converted the Under in all three games they’ve played as a fave of 7+ points, but have been a much stronger Over play overall, having gone 6-2 ATS in their last eight games at State Farm Stadium. Houston has gone below the total in two of three road games this season – and I’ll get into why in the very next section.

Houston Texans

The Texans have played the charitable visitors to near-perfection so far this season, giving other teams’ home fans plenty of reason to celebrate. Houston comes into Week 7 having not only lost all three games away from NRG Stadium, they’ve been outscored by a ridiculous 102-24 margin – including a 71-3 gap in consecutive losses at Buffalo and Indianapolis. Houston has dropped five straight road games dating back to 2020.

Arizona Cardinals

Looking for value outside of the spread or total? It’s a bit tougher when one team is favoured by so much – but there are potential value pockets here. Arizona is averaging 7.5 first-quarter points per game, second-most in the NFL behind only Dallas. Houston, on the other hand, is allowing 7.0 first-quarter points per contest on the road. Bettors might want to consider loading up on the “Quarter of First Touchdown: 1st” prop, which pays -345.
