The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most stable organizations in U.S. pro sports and haven’t finished with a losing record yet under coach Mike Tomlin – but that’s most likely changing this season barring a massive second-half turnaround. There are reports Tomlin could walk away after this year and do TV. The Colts already made a coaching change, recently firing Frank Reich and replacing him on an interim basis with former Colts Pro Bowl centre Jeff Saturday, even though Saturday was working as an ESPN analyst and his coaching experience is at the high school level. He will be given every shot to earn the full-time job.

Pittsburgh has won seven in a row in the series, with the last meeting in the Steel City Week 16 of the 2020 season, a 28-24 victory. Two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks now retired played that day in the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (341 yards, three TDs) and Colts’ Philip Rivers (270 yards, one TD). Jonathan Taylor rushed for two scores for the Colts, who led 24-7 late in the third.

The home team is 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh was a 37-30 home loser to Cincinnati on Sunday. The Bengals piled up 408 yards of total offence and put together touchdown drives of 79, 92 and 93 yards. The Steelers defence struggled despite having Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt in the lineup together for the first time since Week 2.

Steelers rookie Kenny Pickett passed for 265 yards and a touchdown, and Najee Harris ran for 90 yards and two scores – one a spectacular 19-yarder. Entering Sunday’s game, the Steelers were the only team without an offensive touchdown of at least 10 yards. The Steelers are 3-7 ATS in their past 10 on the road.

Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis dropped to 1-1 under interim head coach Jeff Saturday in blowing a 10-point fourth quarter lead at home to Philadelphia and losing 17-16. Indy never trailed until there was about a minute left. The Colts scored a touchdown on their opening drive for the first time since last Christmas but only could manage three field goals by Chase McLaughlin after that.

Taylor carried 22 times for 84 yards and scored for the second straight week. QB Matt Ryan was 23 of 32 with 213 yards and passed Hall of Famer Dan Marino for No. 6 on the NFL’s career list for passing attempts. Ryan’s total of 8,359 is one more than Marino. The Colts are 7-3 ATS in their past 10 after a loss.
