NFL Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends
The Steelers enter the Dawg Pound 3-point road favourites, while the Broncos sit at +120 on the NFL moneyline, and the total is pegged at 38.5 points.
These team’s split last year’s season series, with the home team claiming victory in each meeting, capped by the Browns’ 13-6 late-season victory that marked their fifth win in nine dates with the rival Steelers. Recent clashes between these teams have been low scoring, with the total topping 40 just twice during a 4-1 run for the UNDER. The Browns have also been difficult for Pittsburgh in Cleveland, winning six of the past seven meetings at Huntington Bank Field.
Cleveland has covered both games during its current two-game winning streak, while Pittsburgh rebounded from its 20-3 Week 2 loss at New England by covering against Cincinnati.
The low total reflects two teams that have leaned on defence. The UNDER has cashed in two of the Steelers’ first three games, while the Browns have held Tampa Bay and Carolina to 19 and 18 points over the past two weeks.
NFL Player Odds and Props
Jaylen Warren’s -115 odds on the NFL player props to compile OVER 70.5 rushing yards is worth considering after his breakout performance against Cincinnati. Warren finished with 176 yards from scrimmage last week and remains the Steelers’ clear lead back with Rico Dowdle ruled out again. Cleveland has been much better defensively over the past two weeks, but its run defence remains more vulnerable than its secondary. Warren’s volume should also remain secure in a game with a total below 40 points.
Backing Aaron Rodgers as a -115 wager to toss UNDER 216.5 passing yards is the more interesting side of his passing prop. Rodgers threw three touchdown passes against Cincinnati, but Pittsburgh still isn’t built to chase explosive passing numbers, and Browns’ secondary has played well during the two-game winning streak.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers provided his best performance of the young season against Cincinnati, helping Pittsburgh score 30 points after the offence managed just three the previous week in New England.
Jaylen Warren was even more important, producing 176 yards from scrimmage and establishing himself as the centrepiece of Pittsburgh’s backfield. Warren should again carry a heavy workload with Rico Dowdle ruled out because of a toe injury.
The bigger concern is in the secondary. Jalen Ramsey is questionable with a broken wrist he suffered last week, while Brandin Echols is questionable after clearing concussion protocol.
Cleveland Browns
Deshaun Watson has done enough to help the Browns win consecutive games even though the offence remains inconsistent. Watson threw for only 144 yards against Carolina but accounted for two touchdown passes and added 45 rushing yards, including several important plays late.
Quinshon Judkins had his best rushing game of the season last week with 70 yards on 18 carries after managing only 54 yards over the first two weeks. Cleveland will need another productive effort from Judkins to avoid exposing Watson to Pittsburgh’s pass rush in obvious passing situations.
The Browns will be without centre Elgton Jenkins, guard Teven Jenkins and receiver Tylan Wallace.
