Seahawks vs. Vikings Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 3 Odds, Prediction

The Seattle Seahawks will continue their search for their first pre-season win when they visit the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night. After losing back-to-back games to the Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Chargers, the Seahawks will attempt to conjure up some optimism on the road. It’s slightly surprising as the Seahawks were a perfect 4-0 in the pre-season last year. Is this a sign of things to come with this team?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Mike Zimmer’s teams had registered four wins in each of his first three pre-seasons as head coach in Minnesota before going 2-2 in the exhibition slate a year ago. The Vikings won’t reach four wins this pre-season, but they are 1-1 so far. Zimmer’s teams are a perfect 4-0 in Week 3 of the pre-season.

Meanwhile, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll would be happy with even one win after opening the exhibition schedule with back-to-back losses. Carroll’s teams have traditionally been strong in the pre-season, going 22-12 overall. His teams are 6-2 in Week 3 of the pre-season.

 Seattle Seahawks

Carroll owns a 7-1 mark in the previous two pre-seasons but this team looks like one that’s in transition, and it has shown in its first two weeks of pre-season action. Russell Wilson led the way last week with 193 passing yards but it wasn’t nearly enough in a 24-14 loss to the Chargers. Wilson is among the NFC’s premier quarterbacks but the lack of talent around him on both sides of the football could be a major issue this season. This team has scored a total of just 31 points through two games. And even though they scored 14 points last week, the offensive only notched one touchdown.

The Seahawks are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six pre-season road games but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on turf.

Minnesota Vikings

After registering a whopping 42 points in their pre-season opener, the Vikings could only muster 10 against a solid Jacksonville Jaguars team in Week 2. Kirk Cousins went just 3-of-8 for 12 yards passing in last week’s pre-season loss to the Jaguars, so he will likely approach this week with a stronger sense of urgency as he attempts to bounce back with a better outing. Overall, though, this team has good depth at quarterback with Cousins and Trevor Siemian, and good depth at running back with Latavius Murray, Dalvin Cook and Mike Boone.

On defense, the Vikings should be amped up about the opportunity to face the Seahawks. Seattle’s offensive line continues to be a problem – especially on the right side – and the Vikings should exploit that. Take Minnesota to win and cover in this spot.
