In Houston, quarterback play has made the team’s problems worse.

Wilson and backup Geno Smith have a combined 19 touchdowns to five interceptions this season. It’s safe to assume that if dressed, quarterback Deshaun Watson would have had similar if not better numbers in Houston, but instead Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills have thrown a combined 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Kickoff goes at NRG Stadium at 1 p.m. EST Sunday. Seattle’s a 7.5-point favourite on the road and the over-under is 41.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Under bettors rejoice. So far in 2021 the under is 9-2-1 in Seahawks games and 8-4 in Texans games. This will be Seattle’s seventh road game this season, and none have gone over thus far. Both clubs are scoring under 20 points a game, and Houston’s dead last with a 13.7 average.

The Seahawks are 2-4 in the six road games, but Houston’s just 1-5 at home and is coming off a shutout loss in their own stadium. Both teams do a terrible job at holding the football, with Houston ranking 30th in time of possession and Seattle 32nd. As a result, Seattle and Houston have the fewest first downs per game than any other NFL team.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks found a glimmer of hope last weekend, hanging on against the San Francisco 49ers in a 30-23 win. Wilson passed for 231 yards in the win and now has just one 300-yard passing game in nine starts this season. The key for the Seahawks was instead rushing the football, as they ran for 146 yards and two scores on 27 attempts. Adrian Peterson made his Seahawks debut and scored his 120th NFL touchdown but ran for only 16 yards on 11 carries.

Safety Quandre Diggs snatched his team-leading fourth interception last Sunday, but missed practice Wednesday with a calf injury. Receiver D.K. Metcalf (foot) and safety Jamal Adams (shoulder) also did not practise.

Houston Texans

Last week’s 31-0 shutout to divisional opponent Indianapolis was a season-low for Houston. Taylor is now week-to-week with a wrist injury, so it’s Mills back under centre. Neither completed 50 per cent of their passes or threw for 50 yards last weekend despite each attempt double-digit passes. No rusher had over 30 yards for the Texans last Sunday either.

Houston’s allowing over 375 yards a game too, which is in the bottom five of the NFL. Teams pound the rock on the Texans, they’ve allowed the most rushing yards in the NFL. It led to linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill recording 20 tackles last week— a franchise record.
