Seahawks vs. Panthers Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction

Seattle’s coming off the win of their season, defeating the L.A. Rams 38-37 last week to sit atop the NFC at 12-3. Carolina’s coming a huge win of their own as they took down Tampa Bay 23-20 on Sunday to give the Panthers sole possession of first in the NFC South at 8-7.

Both teams aren’t in the clear though, with divisional foes chasing as we enter the final two weeks of the NFL season. Seattle has a 44.5% chance to win the NFC West and 41.1% to earn the one seed, according to ESPN Analytics. They can also drop down to the six seed in the NFC. Carolina has a 47.7% to make the playoffs/win their division, as another matchup with Tampa Bay looms after this regular season home finale in Carolina.

Kickoff at Bank of America Stadium goes at 1 p.m. EST with the Seahawks a seven-point favourite on the road and the total at 42.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Seahawks enter this weekend having won 12 of their last 13 road outings. Seattle’s been strong ATS on the road too, covering in six of their seven road outings so far this season. Carolina’s been able to cover at home though as they come into Sunday with a 10-3 record ATS in their last 13 home outings.

In the last six Seahawks–Panthers matchups in Carolina, Seattle holds a 5-1 record. The over has hit in eight consecutive Seattle–Carolina meetings too. The winning team has reached at least 30 points in these teams’ last six games.

Seattle is still the betting favourite to win the NFC at +100 odds. Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a -180 favourite to win the Offensive Player of the Year too. Meanwhile, Carolina is +135 to win the NFC South.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle’s probably wishing they didn’t have 10 days off, in order to ride the momentum from last week’s win. Seattle overcame a 16-point fourth quarter deficit to win 38-37 over the Rams, becoming the first NFL team ever to win on an overtime two-point conversion. It wasn’t Sam Darnold’s best day as he tossed for 270 yards and two touchdowns but also two interceptions. As the games get bigger, Darnold’s play will continue to be under the microscope given his past failures to deliver in big moments.

Seattle’s secondary nearly got wiped out last Thursday as Coby Bryant, Riq Woolen, and Nick Emmanwori all exited the game. Bryant (knee) appears the only of the trio likely to miss time as Woolen (knee) was just banged up and Emmanwori has cleared concussion protocol according to head coach Mike Macdonald. Linebacker Derick Hall will be out on Sunday after having his appeal for a one-game suspension for stepping on a player denied.

Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young and comebacks continue to go hand and hand. The franchise quarterback delivered another clutch performance during Sunday’s 23-20 win over Tampa Bay and now has 12 of his 14 wins coming on game-winning drives. Young finished 21/32 for 191 yards and two scores in Sunday’s win and now has his first 20-touchdown passing season in the NFL since going first overall in the 2023 draft.

The Panthers closed out the win with a Lathan Ransom interception. Carolina’s defence has started to come on, as since the start of November they’ve allowed over 20 points just twice. Carolina’s alternated wins over that stretch, meaning Sunday is a chance for this team to reach some consistency that’s still lacking.

Pro Bowl offensive lineman Robert Hunt returned to practice on Wednesday, his first on-field work since Week 2. While Hunt might not play on Sunday, his looming addition is going to be huge for Carolina’s offence.
