Seahawks vs. Lions Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction
The Seattle Seahawks dropped down to 1-2 on the season following their four-point defeat to the Atlanta Falcons at home last week. The 12th Man crowd will get another opportunity to help their squad get in the win column but this week’s opponent is no longer a walk in the park.
The Detroit Lions used to be a doormat but this season, they’re a few plays away from being 3-0 and have taken people by surprise. Last week, they were just minutes away from beating the Minnesota Vikings before they blew a late 10-point lead.
The Lions are a four-point favorite but are they to be trusted? Let’s take a closer look.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Seahawks have been able to work their way into a 4-1 ATS record in their last five games played on the road against a team that has a losing home record. Seattle is also 5-1 ATS in their past six games played during Week 4. This is a very different team these days, though, now that Russell Wilson is gone.
The Lions have won their last four games against the spread overall and are undefeated in their last six home contests. For the total, the over has cashed in the past five games. Their offense has been cooking.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle is still learning to find their rhythm as an offense now that Wilson is gone. Veteran backup Geno Smith did just have a nice game against the Atlanta Falcons last week, though, throwing for 325 yards, two touchdowns, and only one interception. The run game also had 23 carries for 112 total yards to offer balance.
The challenge is that their defense just hasn’t delivered this season. While most of the attention has been on Wilson leaving and the offense, Seattle has actually allowed the eighth-most yards. They’ve also given up 54 points in the last two weeks.
The Lions appear to have a strong offense this year, so the Seahawks better tighten up if they want to make this close.
Detroit Lions
Detroit definitely has a lot of playmakers on their offense right now. The running back Jamaal Williams was able to take 20 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns last week. D’Andre Swift has been fantastic too but he was a bit banged up going into last week’s game, so he ceded the primary duties to Williams. This is a solid one-two punch that is currently third in the NFL in rushing yards per game (170.3).
Jared Goff has proven to be a very capable quarterback, throwing for 277 yards, a touchdown, and an interception last week. He’s guided this unit to an average of 31.7 points per game. If they’re in or around that mark this week, the Seahawks are not likely to be able to keep up.
