Seahawks vs. Falcons Point Spread: NFL Week 14 Odds, Prediction
This game isn’t that appealing on paper, as the two teams are at very different points in their season. After all, Seattle is coming off a routine 26-0 victory over a struggling Vikings team, a game the Seahawks offense didn’t play all that well, but still covered the spread easily thanks to their defense.
As for Atlanta, the Falcons have shown signs of life throughout the season, but this is quickly becoming one of the worst teams in football, and now, Atlanta is dealing with injuries at multiple key positions heading into this game. With the Falcons hoping to pull off the upset and Seattle hoping to keep pace with the other top teams in the NFC, which side will come out on top in this Week 14 clash? It’s almost time to find out.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
While this is not a double-digit spread like last week with Seattle, the Seahawks are still 7.5-point favourites against the Falcons on the road. Given Seattle’s defensive prowess, it’s not surprising that this total sits at 43.5, even in a dome.
The Seahawks are 9-3 against the spread this season, while their games are also 7-5 to the Over. On the other side, the Falcons are 5-6-1 against the spread this season, with the Over cashing in five of the 10 Atlanta games
Seattle Seahawks
At this point in the season, the Seahawks have established themselves as a legitimate contender in a pretty wide-open NFC. Outside of an abysmal performance against a stout Rams defence a few weeks ago, Sam Darnold has largely been extremely reliable at the quarterback position, and it certainly helps matters that he’s throwing to WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who looks like an All-Pro and one of the best receivers in football at the moment.
Where the Seahawks really shine is on defence, as Seattle is one of the top units in the NFL in success rate allowed and EPA per play. In just a few short years, Mike Macdonald has shown himself to be a terrific defensive coach, and he should have a field day against an aging quarterback and a bad Falcons offensive line on Sunday.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have quickly become one of the worst teams in football in recent weeks, especially on defence. Both the traditional and advanced metrics have been poor for Atlanta, and that doesn’t bode well against a Seahawks unit that is a well-oiled machine heading into this game. On the other side of the ball, the Falcons offence has a clear ceiling on it with Kirk Cousins back in the fold at quarterback.
Things won’t get any easier for head coach Raheem Morris and his Falcons team on Sunday, as Atlanta is going up against a defence that has feasted on bad teams all season long, especially on the road. I don’t see how the Falcons offence strings together consistent scoring drives, seeing that this unit has struggled mightily against competition at all levels this season.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Seahawks vs. Falcons?
The Seahawks won and covered a week ago, and this feels like another easy win for a Seattle team that is in contention for an NFC West crown. I can’t see the Seahawks taking their foot off the gas in a spot where they should hold a lead heading into the final quarter.
All things considered, I am rolling with Seattle to win as road favourites of over a touchdown in Week 14, and we can expect this to be a pretty convincing victory from the Seahawks in Atlanta. Mike Macdonald’s team should win this one without too much of a sweat, 27-16.
