Griffin stole the show at the NFL draft, as the one-handed speedster was selected in the fifth round. Now, he’s having an impact on the field with nine tackles last week; he’ll get another chance this week against a tough Chargers team in Los Angeles.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These two non-conference teams have not played a game against each other since September of 2014 (Chargers 30-21 win). The Seahawks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games, and are 5-1 to the under in those six games. They have had their struggles on natural grass with a record of 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games on it.

Seattle Seahawks

34 year-old receiver Brandon Marshall continues to get healthy in the Pacific Northwest. The six-time pro bowler had ankle and toe surgeries last season and is trying to make a comeback with the Seahawks. Marshall played the first series of downs last week, but did not make a catch (was not targeted). He is likely to play in this game against the Chargers, and is challenging for a spot on the roster as veteran wideout Doug Baldwin is still nursing left-knee injury and is listed as out indefinitely. Outside of Baldwin missing in action, expect new tight-end Ed Dickson to sit out this game, along with D.J. Alexander.

There’s a pretty good battle brewing at the back-up quarterback position behind Russell Wilson, who isn’t expected to play more than a series on Saturday. Both Austin Davis and Alex McGough looked sluggish last week, and now the team has welcomed journeyman pivot Josh Johnson to the fold. First round draft pick, Rashaad Penny had surgery on a broken finger and will not dress for this game. The good news for Seahawks fans is he is expected to be ready for week one of the regular season.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers enter this game coming off a 24-17 loss to the Cardinals. A couple of players caught the coach’s eye; one of them is back-up Geno Smith. Smith is in a fight for the position behind Philip Rivers and showed well throwing for 218 yards in the loss. Another player that had a standout game is Geremy Davis. Davis hauled in four passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. He’ll be battling for one of the last receiver positions on the team.

On Saturday, Chargers fans will get their first look at some of the team’s mainstays as Keenan Allen, Trevor Williams and Joey Bosa are expected to play in this match-up. All were left off the roster in last week’s trip to Arizona. Also, Head Coach Anthony Lynn confirmed Tuesday morning that franchise quarterback Philip Rivers will play in this game plus next week’s game against the Saints. Of note, the Chargers are currently the favorites paying +169 on Sports Interaction to win the AFC West Division.
