Seahawks vs. Cardinals Point Spread: NFL Week 4 TNF Odds, Prediction
We have a compelling NFL Week 4 matchup on our hands on Thursday, as the Seattle Seahawks head to Arizona to take on the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
This game has plenty of storylines, most notably that the Seahawks looked fantastic on both sides of the ball in their Week 3 victory over the lowly Saints.
As for Arizona, the Cardinals defence was rock solid in their Week 3 contest against the 49ers, but Kyler Murray and the offence struggled to get anything going in a brutal 16-15 road loss.
With the Cardinals looking to bounce back and Seattle hoping to keep its momentum going, which side will come out on top in this Week 4 clash?
Seattle is a slim one-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 43.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
This could be the closest line we’ll see all week, as it’s essentially a pick‘em on the moneyline. With a low divisional total, field goals may be a common theme, and after the FG dramatics in Week 3, either team to block a FG on Thursday Night at +1000 grabbed my attention.
The Seahawks are 4-1 straight up over their last five games, but they’re just 2-5 against the number in their previous seven games. On the other side, the Cardinals are 4-1 against the spread over their latest five games and 6-1 in their last seven games at home.
Seattle Seahawks
Heading into the season, there was plenty of optimism surrounding the Seahawks defence, and I’ve seen nothing to dispel that optimism after the first three weeks. After all, head coach Mike Macdonald has an excellent defensive background, and it already appears that he has transformed a unit that was struggling mightily before his arrival.
The issue to start the season with Seattle was on the other side of the ball, where QB Sam Darnold was not protected well at all in Week 1. However, Darnold looked like he was back in Minnesota a week ago, as he and the Seahawks offence made quick work of New Orleans to improve to 2-1. If RB Kenneth Walker can see success on the ground against Arizona’s front seven, the Seahawks should be in a solid position.
Arizona Cardinals
It’s not a characteristic that fits the profile of the Arizona Cardinals franchise on paper, but this team might end up being a defence-first unit this season. After all, Arizona has done very well on that side of the ball against its first three opponents, and that could be the case again on Thursday.
Given that it’s a short week, the concerns I have with the Cardinals on offence are not likely to be sorted out in this game, especially against a defence of this caliber. It could be another week of struggles for Murray and company. If Arizona wants to break out of its offensive slump, it’s going to take a great effort from tight end Trey McBride, who might be the best player at his position in football.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Seahawks vs. Cardinals?
While I was initially looking to back Arizona in a bounce-back spot following a crushing loss, the Cardinals offence worries me against Seattle’s defence, particularly when it comes to generating success in the passing game.
With that in mind, I am rolling with Seattle to win on the road in Week 4, and we can expect this to be a close, lower-scoring affair. Seattle should take this one 24-20.
