The Cardinals have long since been eliminated from playoff contention, but have held sway over the playoff fortunes of recent opponents while winning two of their past four, capped by last week’s stunning 35-31 upset victory in Philadelphia. The Seahawks find themselves on the playoff bubble after falling 30-23 to Pittsburgh last weekend, and arrive in the desert with just one straight up victory in six road games.

The Seahawks are pegged as slim 3-point road favourites on the NFL Week 18 odds, but it is the Cardinals who sport -115 odds of covering the spread. The total is listed at a lofty 47.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Seahawks relinquished their grasp on an NFC wild card with last weekend’s loss to the Steelers, and with it, control of their playoff destiny. Even with a victory over the Cardinals on Sunday, the Seahawks will still need Green Bay to lose in its date with Chicago to reclaim the No. 7 seed. Seattle has enjoyed steady success in recent regular season games played in January, winning seven straight including a pair of victories in Arizona, but has lost four of five in divisional action. The silver lining for Seahawks betting fans is the team’s recent steady performance at the sportsbook, where they have gone 4-2-1 ATS in their past seven including a 3-0-1 ATS mark on the road.

It has been a tough season for the Cardinals, who have compiled a 4-12 SU record. But this team makes their wins count. Last weekend’s victory in Philadelphia ruined the Eagles’ bid to clinch the NFC East title and possibly the top seed, and their win over Pittsburgh last month pushed the Steelers onto a playoff bubble they have yet to escape. However, the Cardinals must find ways to contain the Seahawks offence after allowing 30 points per game over their past five outings, extending a season-long run for the OVER to 10-6.

Seattle Seahawks

Quarterback Geno Smith has steadily rounded back into form since returning from a groin injury that forced him to miss two games. Smith has tossed three total touchdowns in two outings since his return, and also scampered for a season-high 33 yards in last weekend’s loss to Pittsburgh. Smith has also tossed for six total scores over his past three road dates, with DK Metcalf making five of those catches. Metcalf also piled up 106 receiving yards last weekend, but has been nursing a tow injury at practice all week. Speaking of injuries, the status of Kenneth Walker III remains uncertain after missing time at practice this week. His absence would be a big blow after averaging 81 total yards and scoring twice in the past three weeks.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals showed enormous heart while erasing a 15-point halftime deficit on their way to last week’s stunning comeback victory over the Eagles. Kyler Murray was in vintage form while connecting on three scoring passes after recess, and then guiding the cards on an impressive 70-yard scoring drive late in the fourth that ended with James Conner’s game-winning TD run. Murray completed a season-high 80.7 per cent of pass attempts on the day, compiling 232 yards, and now has nine TDs over the past five games. In addition to his game-tying TD, Conner also made a crucial scoring catch in the third quarter, and has now racked up four touchdown receptions and two scoring rushes over the past four games, which accounts for half of this offence’s scoring over that stretch.
