This is the first-ever NFL regular season game played in Germany, yet another attempt by the league to expand its product overseas. Allianz Arena is usually the home of FC Bayern Munich, a regular powerhouse in Germany’s top-flight soccer league.

The American football pundits have Tampa Bay as slim -2.5 favourites on the NFL odds. The over-under is 44.5 points scored.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Even though both teams play in the same conference, there appears to have been no reason to pit the two against each other very much. We have to go back to 2009 to collect data on the five most recent meetings. The Bucs carry the 3-2 edge over that span, but such details don’t mean much. These teams are completely different today.

Pete Carroll’s Seahawks are an impressive 6-3 against the spread in 2022. That perfectly reflects their 6-3 win-loss record. They now ride a four-game streak of covering. Furthermore, and we wrote about this last week, they don’t care about being underdogs. They have been most of the year, yet here they stand at 6-3.

It’s been a rough season for Todd Bowles’ Floridian squad, and we’re not merely talking about their 4-5 win-loss record. ATS in 2022 the Bucs are an ignominious 2-6-1. Yes, even when they win, like last week against the Rams, they don’t cover (they won by 3 and were -3 favourites). At least that halted a six-game stretch during which they failed against the spread.

Seattle Seahawks

It’s getting more and more comfortable talking about the Seahawks as a legitimate contender. Seattle has shown poise, confidence, and an ability to find ways to win when the going gets tough. Most of their wins have been decided by one score, or games that were close for most of the afternoon until Seattle pulled away, as they did on Sunday in Arizona.

It starts with the rejuvenation of QB Geno Smith. Through nine games he leads the league in completion percentage at 70.9%. His yards per attempt average isn’t too shabby either (7.7, tied for 7th). If anything, Week 9 against the Cardinals was a bit of an off-day. With a total of 1,204 total yards on the ground, they’re 7th in the NFL in that category. Don’t look now, but that defence is starting to look okay at the right time. Not great, but decent will get you places when you score almost at will.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After a slew of infuriating defeats, few can blame Tom Brady for starting his post-game press conference by saying the win was bleeping awesome. With less than a minute to go and no timeouts, TB12 did what he’s done so often throughout his illustrious career. Darts down the field eventually led to a game-winning TD toss to rookie TE Cade Otton.

What surprised many wasn’t that Brady led his team to a game-winning drive, but that they’ve been doing that so rarely this season. At 4-5, it’s an understatement to say that things haven’t gone according to plan. Brady is throwing for a lot of yards (the Bucs are 4th in yards thrown), but the offence stutters behind an average offensive line. At 6.4 yards per pass, Tampa is in a three-way tie for fourth worst in the league. Let’s not even talk about the run game.
