Seahawks Defensive End Frank Clark made headlines this week, saying this Seahawks defence was his, and Richard Sherman (now with the 49ers) and his era is over in Seattle. It’ll be interesting to see how Sherman reacts to this, considering a couple weeks ago, it was Sherman doing all the talking, and the Seahawks shut that down with a massive win against the 49ers.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Seahawks whipped the 49ers just two weeks ago during their week 13 match-up. Seattle won the game 43-16 on home turf.

The Seahawks are 8-5 on the season, and even better against the spread at 8-3-2. The Seahawks have dominated that 49ers in the last five-plus years going 11-2-1 ATS in their last 14 games against them. The Seahawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in San Francisco, and the under is an impressive 5-1 over that time.

Although the 49ers won last week (non-conference opponent) they are 0-4 ATS against the NFC West, and 0-5 ATS in their last five games against the NFC.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are rolling coming into this game. Winners of four in a row, against some good competition, the Seahawks knocked off the Packers, Panthers and most recently the Vikings on Monday night. They are on the brink of wrapping up a playoff position in the NFC and could virtually seal it with a win on Sunday.

The key to this team’s success has been the running attack. The Seahawks boast the league’s number one rush offence, averaging 153.8 yards per game. They have done it by committee with Chris Carson leading the way. Monday nights win against the Vikings was another example, as the Hawks rushed for 214 yards. Carson motored for 90 yards, while Russell Wilson marched for another 72 yards.

One concern, although the Seahawks won’t admit it, is the passing game. Russell Wilson’s production the last two weeks has been, 72 yards passing, and 185 yards passing. Yes, that’s 257 yards passing in two games, both wins for Seattle. It’ll be interesting to see how long they can maintain this type of play calling.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are coming off their first win in over a month (November 1) when they upset the Denver Broncos 20-14 this past Sunday afternoon. Running back Jeff Wilson Jr. filled in well for the injured Matt Breida, rushing for 90 yards on 23 carries in only his first career NFL start. In his last two games, Wilson has rushed for 151 yards.

But the day belonged to Tight End George Kittle, who played the game of his life. Kittle caught seven balls on nine targets for 210 yards, falling just five yards short of Shannon Sharpe’s NFL single-game receiving record by Tight Ends. He became the first 49ers Tight End to reach 1000 yards receiving for a season. Going back to his game against the Seahawks a couple weeks ago, Kittle, like he has been all season, was favourite target catching six passes for 70 yards.

The defence has been respectable this season, currently ranked 10th overall in total defence. The rush defence was practically well last Sunday holding the Broncos to a team total of 113 yards rushing, including Phillip Lindsay, who had just 30 yards on 14 carries.
