Seahawks vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction

If the Seattle Seahawks have any realistic chance of catching the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC West title, Seattle will have to pull an upset of the Niners on Monday night to close out Week 10 in the NFL.

NFL Monday Night Football Point Spread Betting Analysis

Seahawks-49ers was one of the best rivalries in the NFC for a handful of years when Jim Harbaugh was the San Francisco head coach because he and Pete Carroll, still the Seattle head coach, didn’t like each other much from Harbaugh’s days at Stanford and Carroll’s at USC. There’s still a rivalry just not as heated – although former Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman now plays for San Francisco. He will no doubt have some comments this week about how he left Seattle.

Could be huge playoff implications when these teams the regular season against one another in Seattle on Dec. 29. The Niners likely will have the NFC West wrapped up by then but could be playing for home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs, while the Seahawks should be in Wild-Card contention.

Last year, the clubs split their meetings over the span of just two weeks with each winning at home. Seattle rolled 43-16 at home behind four touchdown passes from Russell Wilson, three in the first half. Nick Mullens was the San Francisco QB then. Just 14 days later in Santa Clara, the 49ers pulled a 26-23 overtime upset -Seattle’s only loss in its final seven regular-season games. Robbie Gould kicked a 36-yard field goal – his fourth of the game — with 3:06 left in OT as the Niners snapped a 10-game losing streak in the series. Their last win vs. Seattle was in 2013 when Harbaugh was still around.

Seattle has covered 11 of the past 15 in the series. The over is 5-2 in the previous seven.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle avoided a home upset to Tampa Bay on Sunday, escaping 40-34 in overtime. Russell Wilson boosted his MVP chances with five touchdown passes, including a 10-yard score to Jacob Hollister on the opening possession of OT to win it. Shouldn’t have gone to OT but Seahawks kicker Jason Myers missed a 40-yard field-goal attempt on the final play of regulation. Myers is just 3 of 8 this season on kicks of 40 or more yards. Tyler Lockett blew up with 13 catches for 152 yards and two scores. Wilson will add another receiving threat this week after the team claimed former Patriots wideout Josh Gordon off waivers. He should debut in this one. The Seahawks are 0-5 ATS in their past five after an ATS win.

San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco’s 8-0 start is the second-best in the Super Bowl era by a team that won fewer than five games the previous season; the 2013 Chiefs started 9-0. Garoppolo had the game of his young career in last Thursday’s 28-25 win in Arizona, throwing for 317 yards and four touchdowns – to four different receivers. He was the first Niners QB with a 300-yard, four-TD game since Jeff Garcia in 2000. Jimmy G is the fifth quarterback in league history to win at least 16 of his first 18 career starts. If there was one complaint on Thursday, the Niners’ defence wasn’t nearly as sharp; it hadn’t allowed a combined 23 points in the previous four games. But it was a short week and a road game against the Cardinals so that may explain it. San Francisco is 2-6 ATS in its previous eight vs. the NFC West.
