The scorigami king is back as Pete Carroll has now led the Seahawks to 10 scorigami victories since 2010.
The Seattle Seahawks’ wild victory over Detroit on Sunday, which totalled just under 100 points, actually made some NFL history as the Seahawks and Lions finished with a final score that has never been seen – also known as a scorigami. Seattle’s 48-45 win marked the first time in NFL history that a game has ended with that score. In the history of the NFL there have now been 1,073 unique scores.
What is a Scorigami?
Scorigami is a term coined by American Football journalist Jon Bois in 2016 to describe a score that has never happened in NFL history. Essentially because of the unique way the points system works in American Football, certain final scores are rarer or harder to hit. There has never been an NFL season that finished without a scorigami and last season there were six.
Betting Scorigami at Sports Interaction
In total, six SIA bettors cashed in on Sunday’s scorigami.
Sports Interaction has multiple ways to bet on NFL scorigami’s, including placing a ‘Pinata Pick’ wager and betting how many scorigamis will hit in a given week. With a ‘Pinata Pick’, Sports Interaction will assign you a random score that has never happened in NFL history and if your scorigami hits you will be paid out at 1000-1 odds.
You can also wager how many scorigami’s will hit in a specific week. Sports Interaction pays out at +800 if two or more scorigami’s hit in a specific week. If you’re looking to make a long-term wager, you can bet on how many scorigami’s will hit in the season, with options ranging from exactly one up to 12 or more. For example, at the beginning of the season, exactly one scorigami hitting had odds of +400, while the odds have now jumped to +550 following Sunday’s scorigami.
If you want to keep things simple, you can also look at each matchup during the season and bet that a scorigami will occur in a specific game at 33-1 odds.
Scorigami Seahawks
Sunday’s result at Ford Field was nothing new for the Seahawks under the leadership of head coach Pete Carroll. Seattle has been clutch when it comes to scorigami since Carroll took over in 2010 and if you don’t believe me, take a look at the unique final scores in Seahawks games over the last 12 years.
2010: Seahawks 36 Cardinals 18
2011: Seahawks 36 Giants 25
2012: Seahawks 58 Cardinals 0
2013: Seahawks 43 Broncos 8 (Super Bowl XLVIII)
2014: Seahawks 36 Packers 16
2015: Seahawks 39 Steelers 30
2016: Seahawks 37 49ers 18
2017: Seahawks 46 Colts 18
2018: Seahawks 43 49ers 16
The 2019 season marked the end of Seattle’s scorigami streak and they just missed out on scorigami’s in 2020 and 2021. Not only is the Seahawks scorigami streak back up and running, it also included another W.
