Saints vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction
The New Orleans Saints begin their 2025 road journey with about as far of a trip as possible when they visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon. Albeit more competitive than expected, the Saints are off to an 0-2 start and looking for a little extra juice when it comes to putting up points. The Seahawks avoided dropping to 0-2 for essentially that exact reason, as a bizarre fumble return touchdown propelled Seattle to a 31-17 victory last week at Pittsburgh.
With both teams placed in the basements of their respective divisions, Sunday has the makings of a swing game for each club. The Seahawks are the lone non-undefeated team in the NFC West and need to make up ground quick, while an 0-3 start for New Orleans would nearly solidify that their four-year playoff drought lives on.
Kickoff at Lumen Field gets started at 4:05 p.m. EDT on Sunday. The Seahawks are currently -7.5 on the point spread, with the total sitting at 41.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Since New Orleans won’t be favoured in many games this season, they’re poised to be a prime backdoor team when it comes to the point spread. The Saints were in positions each of the last two weeks to at least cover late, but faltered on their final drives. It’s no surprise given the status of the Saints quarterback room, but that said they have averaged a respectable 17 points per game and saw the over hit in their Week 2 outing as their totals typically hover around 40.
Seattle’s managed to cover in just one of their last eight home outings. In fact, any home field advantage for the Seahawks has evaporated as Seattle is 3-7 outright in their last 10 home outings. New Orleans has won two straight visits to Seattle, coming back in 2019 and 2016. The under has hit in six of the last nine Saints visits to play the Seahawks.
New Orleans Saints
Starting quarterback Spencer Rattler is now 0-8 in his NFL career. Rattler’s had some prime opportunities to change his fortune in each of his two starts this season, but failed to deliver in the two-minute drills. On the bright side, Rattler tossed a career-best three touchdowns in last weekend’s 26-21 loss to San Francisco.
Tight end Juwan Johnson has been impressive in the pass game for New Orleans with a team-high 13 catches for 125 yards so far. 30-year-old Alvin Kamara continues to see a heavy dosage of touches too, with 40 through two games.
Defensively the Saints have been able to get after the quarterback with eight total sacks but have only generated one takeaway, another aspect this team is in need of a little more production.
Right tackle Taliese Fuaga (knee/back) and defensive end Chae Young (calf) both did not practice for New Orleans on Wednesday.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks offence under Sam Darnold is still working out some kinks, but the unit made some improvements in Week 2. Darnold finished with under 300 yards in Sunday’s 31-17 victory at Pittsburgh, nearly double of his total in his Seattle debut. Darnold also threw his first touchdown passes with the Seahawks, as rookie Toy Horton and tight end A.J. Barner both found the end zone.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is clearly the focal point in the offence after finishing with another team-high eight catches for 103 yards in Week 2 but veteran receiver Cooper Kupp also made his presence felt with seven grabs for 90 yards.
What this offence still may need to figure out is who is the focal point in the backfield. Through two games, Zach Charbonnet has outsnapped Kenneth Walker III 66 to 44. Walker III had much greater production with 13 carries for 105 yards and a score, but the Seahawks definitely like what they see in Charbonnet — especially in the pass blocking role.
