Saints vs. Panthers Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction

With four wins in five games, Carolina qualifies as one of, if not the most surprising, teams in the NFL. The 5-4 Panthers host the lowly 1-8 New Orleans Saints on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Rico Dowdle, one of the NFL’s best offseason signings, rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns as Carolina won on the road at Green Bay, 16-13, on a Ryan Fitzgerald field goal as time expired.

The Saints have lost four straight for the second time already this season. New Orleans totalled just 57 yards rushing while Tyler Shough was hounded all day in his debut as the team’s starting quarterback in a comprehensive, 34-10 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams.

Carolina is a 5.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 40.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Saints are a league-worst 2-7 against the spread this season, including 1-3 ATS on the road. New Orleans has lost six straight road games and 12 of 13 overall, dating back to last season. Carolina is 6-3 against the spread, including 3-1 ATS at home.

The Panthers have played to the Over in nine of 13 games, while New Orleans has played to the Under in five straight contests.

Carolina has won four straight with Bryce Young starting under centre. In his last two games at Bank of America Stadium, he has thrown five touchdowns and two interceptions. He is +160 to throw more than 1.5 touchdowns and +120 to throw 1+ interceptions. Both are attractive options here.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints appear locked in a race for the 2026 No. 1 overall draft pick. They have lost four straight overall, including three consecutive games by double digits. The more alarming trend comes in the run game. Since rushing for 189 yards against the Buffalo Bills, the Saints have not topped 88 yards in a game, and are averaging just 62 yards rushing in their past five contests.

What’s worse, Alvin Kamara is being criminally underused. He is averaging 24.2 yards on the ground in those same five games, and had just 17 total yards from scrimmage against the Rams last week. To add insult to injury, New Orleans traded No. 2 wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.

Carolina Panthers

Young is not flashy. He threw for just 102 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception against the Packers last week. But the team finds a way to win with him in the lineup.

Having Dowdle, the NFL’s third-leading rusher with 735 yards, helps. And that’s behind a battered offensive line. Guards Brady Christensen and Robert Hunt are both on injured reserve, fellow guard Chandler Zavala left the Packers game in the first half, and centre Cade Mays is questionable this week.

NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Saints vs. Panthers?

The game plan for the Saints defence should be quite simple. Stack the box on Dowdle and force Young to beat them with his arm. However, New Orleans is allowing 129.4 yards per game on the ground, and Carolina’s run game is fifth in the NFL with 139.8 yards per game.

Look for Dowdle to rush for 130 yards or more for the fourth time in six games and for Young to do just enough managing the offence to send Carolina to its fourth win in five games at home with a 24-10 victory.
