After a 24-9 Week 11 loss in New Orleans, the Atlanta Falcons get another shot in a rematch against the Saints in Atlanta on Sunday.

These teams played each other just a couple weeks ago and it ended in a comfortable win for the Saints.  For the Week 13 rematch, the Saints are 3-point favourites on the NFL odds, with a total of 46.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Saints are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games against Atlanta and they are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.  The under is 4-0 in New Orleans’ last four games overall.

The Falcons are 4-0 ATS in their last four December games, but they are 0-5 ATS in their last five Week 13 games.  The under is 5-0 in Atlanta’s last five games as a home underdog.

New Orleans Saints

In an absolutely ridiculous game last week, against a Bronco’s team without an available quarterback, the Saints held Denver to just 13 passing yards, one completion and picked up two interceptions in the 31-3 win.  The New Orleans defence has been hot even before the Denver game, picking up 13 takeaways in their last five games, including two interceptions two weeks ago against the Falcons.

With Drew Brees still injured, the Saints didn’t rely on the pass game last week, as Taysom Hill only had 16 passing attempts for 78 yards and one interception.  The run game was another story for New Orleans against the Broncos.  The Saints ran the ball 44 times for 229 rushing yards and four rushing TDs.  Hill had two TDs and 44 yards on 10 rushes, while Latavius Murray led the game with 124 rushing yards and two TDs.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have been rolling lately and come into this game on a high after crushing the Raiders 43-6, last week. Matt Ryan threw for 185 yards, two TDs and one interception in the win, an improvement after throwing no TDs and two interceptions in the Week 11 loss to the Saints. Receiver Julio Jones hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury early in that Saints game and his status is still questionable this week.

Atlanta’s defence has come alive recently.  They picked up five sacks and five takeaways (one interception, four fumble recoveries) against the Raiders, last week, and they have 11 takeaways in their last six games. The Falcons defence also held the Raiders to just 40 rushing yards and 2.9 yards per carry.
