Saints vs. Cardinals Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction

Two disappointing 2-4 NFC teams face off on Thursday night in Week 7 as the New Orleans Saints visit the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona is a 1.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 45 points.

It’s the first meeting between the teams since Week 8 of the 2019 season in New Orleans when the Saints won 31-9 as Drew Brees threw for 373 yards and three scores. Michael Thomas had 11 grabs for 112 yards and a score. More on him below. Kyler Murray was 19-for-33 for 220 yards and no scores. The Cards had just 40 yards rushing. The all-time regular-season series between the teams is tied 15-15. The favourite is 5-2 ATS in the past seven meetings.

Arizona will have a new receiver on the field as the team traded for Carolina’s Robbie Anderson on Monday. Anderson was banished to the locker room mid-game Sunday after arguing with his position coach, so it was no shock that he was shipped out. Anderson is having a disappointing year with 13 catches for 206 yards and a score. Arizona sent back a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-rounder.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints blew a late home lead Sunday and lost 30-26 to the Cincinnati Bengals on a 60-yard TD pass with just under two minutes left. It marked the NFL’s first game-winning touchdown of 60-or-more yards within the final two minutes of regulation or in overtime since Week 14, 2018. Andy Dalton started at QB for the injured Jameis Winston again for New Orleans, but it’s not yet clear who might be the guy Thursday. Winston did return to practice last week and was active Sunday.

Dalton didn’t have his top three wideouts in Thomas, Jarvis Landry or Chris Olave, an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate. Only Olave is expected Thursday. Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore is expected to miss another game. New Orleans is 4-1 ATS in its past five after a loss.

Arizona Cardinals

Arizona lost 19-9 in Seattle on Sunday and lost receiver Marquise Brown for about six weeks due to a foot injury. He leads the team with 43 catches for 485 yards and three scores. However, the Cardinals will get back five-time All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins from a six-game suspension. Murray passed for 222 yards and rushed for 100 in the loss, his second career game with at least 100 rushing yards. Murray has 2,019 career rushing yards since entering the NFL in 2019 and is the sixth quarterback all-time with at least 2,000 rushing yards in his first four seasons. Murray has two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 100-or-higher in two of his three career starts on Thursday.

Guard Justin Pugh may have suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday’s loss. Running backs James Conner and (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) were out injured and in doubt here. Arizona is 1-7 ATS in its past eight home games.
