Washington vs. Packers Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 14 Odds

Against all odds, the Redskins come to Lambeau with two straight wins behind them. Should the Packers be concerned? Maybe a little, but consider that those two wins have come against the Lions, who are led by Jeff Driscoll, and the Panthers, who are on a four game losing streak.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This will be just the third time these two teams have played one another in the last five years, and it’s the first time they’ll play at Lambeau Field in six years. The Pack have the historical advantage, having won the last four in the matchup. Keep in mind that Matt Lafleur, current Packers head coach, was the Redskins QB coach for three seasons starting in 2010.

The Washington Redskins are currently priced as +13 underdogs as they visit the Packers in Green Bay.  Washington is now 3-9 on the season, coming off a 29-21 win over the Panthers. The Pack are 9-3, and come off a 31-13 win over the New York Giants.

A weak Washington offense has the team averaging just over 14 points per game.

Washington Redskins

It’s hard to predict whether or not rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins will be the future of this organization, but there have been flashes of hope for Washington fans, especially when the Redskins, one of the worst teams in the league, win two straight late in the season thanks to a great run game. Haskins completed just 13 of 25 passes for 147 yards last week in the win against the Panthers and he was sacked five times. The Redskins are dead last in the NFL in passing offense this year, and they’ve allowed their QB to be sacked a whopping 40 times.

Since Haskins is so green, the best way for Washington to win games at this point is with the run game. Last week, fans got to see what could happen when Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson were unleashed on the field at the same time. Together they rushed for 237 yards (Guice had 128 yards, Peterson had 99) and three touchdowns in the win against Carolina.

Against a Packers defense that struggles against the rush, this will be the key to the Redskins’ offense in Week 14.

Green Bay Packers

A big problem for the Packers this season has been their punt returns, and the organization took steps this week to remedy the situation by releasing Tremon Smith and adding Tyler Ervin, who has averaged 8.3 yards in the last four years.

Aaron Rodgers has been stellar this season in terms of not throwing interceptions, with only two thrown so far. They welcome Washington this Sunday with a turnover differential of plus 11, which is the second best in the league after the Patriots. In their win last week against the Giants, Rodgers completed 21 of 33 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns. Davante Adams caught two of those TD passes.

This is the first of the two last regular season games that the Packers will host at Lambeau this season. The Bears head to Green Bay next week for a divisional battle. The Pack are 3-0 in division games this season.
