Ravens vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction

For the second straight week, it’s an all-AFC matchup on Thursday night as the Baltimore Ravens visit the hugely disappointing Miami Dolphins to kick off Week 10 in the NFL. The Ravens are 7.5-point favourites on the NFL odds with a total of 46.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Any time a team has to travel to Miami, it hopes to do so in November or later because then it’s not so hot and humid. Early-season home games are a big advantage in that regard for the Dolphins (and the Bucs to a bit lesser extent). Small advantage Fins here as they didn’t have to travel off their Week 9 game.

Including playoffs, it’s the 16th all-time meeting between the franchises and the Ravens lead 10-6. The last matchup was in the 2019 season opener also in Miami and Baltimore rolled 59-10 – that was the year the Dolphins were supposedly “Tanking for Tua.”

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is from the Miami area, had a perfect rating of 158.3 in completing 17-for-20 for 324 yards and five TDs in that blowout win. Baltimore set a franchise record for points in the first half (42), an NFL record for points in the first half of an opener, and team marks for total points and yards with 643. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen saw snaps under center then for Miami and both are long gone.

Rather astonishingly, the Ravens have covered the spread in nine straight games vs. the Dolphins.

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore came out of its bye this past Sunday and was definitely a bit uneven in a 34-31 overtime home win over Minnesota. There is no more automatic kicker in NFL history when the game is on the line than the Ravens’ Justin Tucker, and he hit the winner from 36 yards out late in OT. QB Lamar Jackson was the Baltimore offence for the most part yet again, throwing for 266 yards and three scores and rushing for 120 yards. The former Heisman winner became the first quarterback in NFL history to record multiple career games with at least three touchdown passes and 100 rushing yards. He also tied Michael Vick for the all-time lead among QBs with 10 games of 100 yards rushing.

Finally, Jackson is the first player ever with at least 2,000 passing yards (2,209) and 600 rushing yards (600) in his first eight games of a season. He thrives in prime-time games like this with 31 career TDs (24 passing, seven rushing) in 11 such games. Baltimore is 4-1-1 ATS in its past six Thursday games.

Miami Dolphins

Miami somewhat surprisingly scratched starting QB Tua Tagovailoa with a fractured finger on Sunday but the Dolphins ended a seven-game losing streak regardless in a 17-9 win over horrible Houston. Jacoby Brissett wasn’t exactly great in completing 26 of 43 for 244 yards, a TD, two picks and a lost fumble. Miami totaled 262 yards and have five turnovers – not sure I’ve seen that type of combination before and a team won a game. Too early to say if Tua will play this week. Miami played without two of its top receivers in DeVante Parker and Will Fuller and neither will play Thursday.

Frankly, it wouldn’t shock this writer if the Fins claimed Odell Beckham Jr. on waivers this week. Miami is 1-4 ATS in its past five Thursday games.
