The Baltimore Ravens 24-game win streak in the pre-season is without a doubt one of the most random sports runs of all time, and a streak the Washington Commanders would love to play spoiler to on Monday Night Football. It’s already been quite chippy between these two clubs in joint practices this week, headlined by Ravens tight end Mark Andrews body-slamming a Washington defender around, one of several fights that broke out.
Kickoff between these teams Monday at FedEx Field goes at 8 p.m. EDT with Baltimore a 3.5-point favourite on the road and the total at 38.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Baltimore’s 24-game pre-season win streak began back in 2015, a time when their latest first-round pick, Zay Flowers, was just a high school freshman. And it’s not as if John Harbaugh is always playing his starters in an effort to win, hence the randomness of achieving two dozen consecutive wins with a merry-go-round of depth players and NFL hopefuls.
The Ravens have a six-game win streak over Washington and are 4-1-1 ATS in those six victories. The Ravens have also covered in 11 of their last 13 August outings overall. Washington covered last weekend in a 17-15 victory at Cleveland.
Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson, along with several key starters did not play last weekend in Baltimore’s 20-19 victory over Philadelphia and the roster plan is likely to remain the same for the Ravens this Monday. That means quarterbacks Tyler Huntley, Josh Johnson, and Anthony Brown are all probable to play again. Huntley started last week completing eight of 11 passes to go with a touchdown pass.
Baltimore rushed for 133 yards last week with eight players recording at least one carry. Justice Hill racked up the most yards (48) thanks to a 37-yard scamper. Tylan Wallace and Devin Duvernay caught touchdown passes in last week’s dub.
Kicker Justin Tucker, who’s been around for the entirety of this streak, is in mid-season form after knocking down both of his field goal attempts last week including a 60-yarder.
Washington Commanders
2022 fifth-round pick Sam Howell has the edge to be Washington’s starting quarterback this season and made the most of his opportunity last week by completing nine of his 12 pass attempts for 77 yards and a score. Second-year receiver Jahan Dotson, who many predict to break out this season, caught Howell’s touchdown strike.
Veteran quarterback and 2023 free agent addition Jacoby Brissett completed six of his 10 passes last week but with an interception to his performance. Brissett also ran in a touchdown in the win. Free agent addition Byron Pringle led all Washington receivers with 32 yards, achieving the feat on a single reception.
