Ravens vs. Browns Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 16 Odds
Last Sunday, the Browns earned a pretty dismal statistic. With that loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Browns are guaranteed to have a losing record this season. Which makes them the only team in the league to go a full decade without a single winning record year.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Cleveland Browns are currently priced as 10.5-point home underdogs. The last time Baltimore was a double-digit road favorite was when they visited the Bengals and covered the 10.5-point spread with ease, winning that one 49-13.
When thinking back to Week 4 of this year, it seems remarkable that the Browns not only beat the Ravens, but beat them soundly with a final score of 40-25. The teams are in much different positions now, with the Ravens absolutely surging and the Browns going 4-6 after that win.
Baltimore has been one of the most successful road teams this season. If the Ravens beat the Browns this weekend, they clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Baltimore Ravens
It seems that there’s no stopping Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens this season. They’ve won ten straight and Jackson is a near-lock for MVP. Just how good is this team?
They are ranked number one in the league in points AND rushing yards and they are number two in total yards. Jackson has passed for 2,889 yards and 33 touchdowns while running 159 times for 1,103 yards and seven touchdowns. Jackson recently surpassed Michael Vick’s all-time single-season rushing record of 1,039 when the Ravens destroyed the Jets a couple of weeks ago.
A fun fact that Browns fans love to be reminded of is that Cleveland took quarterback Baker Mayfield with their 1st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Baltimore Ravens also picked a quarterback in that draft: Lamar Jackson, who went 32nd overall.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns may have handed it to the Ravens back in Week 4, but if anyone has the last laugh, it’s Lamar Jackson and company. That win evened out Cleveland’s record to 2-2 and gave fans the false hope that maybe the Browns were no longer… the Browns.
Since then they’ve gone 4-6 and have been plagued with drama, particularly around their 1st overall draft pick, Mr. Baker Reagan Mayfield, but not excluding Odell Beckham Jr., and Head Coach (for now) Freddie Kitchens.
Teams that are bad have fans that love to figure out how it is mathematically possible for their bad team to make the playoffs, and so of course, there’s a possibility. Here’s the somewhat improbable sequence of events that would have to transpire for the Browns to make a postseason appearance. Most unlikely is that they first have to beat the Ravens. Tough. Then they must beat the Bengals (easier) to finish the season 8-8. Then, the Steelers must lose to the Jets and Ravens, and the Titans must lose to the Saints and Texans. Then the Colts must beat the Panthers and the Jaguars. If all that occurs, then these Browns could claim that last wild card spot. Imagine?
