Rams vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 5 Odds, Prediction
With a win against the Seahawks, the Rams would extend their lead to three games in the NFC West. Odds makers have penciled in the visiting side Rams as 7.5-point favourites in this game.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
These division rivals have a pretty good history against one another. The teams have evenly split their last 10 meetings, each winning five games. The Seahawks are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games following a straight up win, and 1-6-1 in their last eight home games against teams with a winning record. Head-to-head the Rams are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games in Seattle, and the under has been a factor in these games as well, as it is 5-1 in the last six games in Seattle.
Los Angeles Rams
The 2018 version of the Los Angeles Rams have been the most exciting team to watch this season (with respect to the Kansas City Chiefs). The offence has been no less than a clinic; first in total yards (468.5), second in passing yards (343.2), second in points (35.0), tied for second in 3rd down conversions (48.9 percent) and seventh in league rushing (125.3); it’s been a statistician’s dream. Coming off a thrilling 38-31 shootout with the Minnesota Vikings, third year quarterback Jared Goff had his best professional night of his career. Goff threw for 465 yards and five touchdowns in the win. His previous best game was 355 yards last season against the Texans.
The Rams had three receivers finish the game with 100+ receiving yards, led by Cooper Kupp (9-162 yards), Brandin Cooks (7-166 yards) and Robert Woods (5-101 yards). All-Pro Todd Gurley has six touchdowns this season, and his 228 rushing yards is second in the NFL to Ekeziel Elliott. The always-consistent defence is tied for fifth in points scored against with 16.8.
Seattle Seahawks
Major credit goes to Head Coach Pete Carroll and his Seahawks staff for getting this team back on track after starting the season 0-2. The Seahawks lost many good players in the off-season, and expectations were not high entering the year. Starting the season with losses to Broncos and Bears by a combined score of 10 points was not what they needed. They re-grouped and scored victories against the Cowboys and Cardinals, and now find themselves 2-2 entering their biggest test against the Rams.
Quarterback Russell Wilson has been very good this season, and last week became the franchise’s all-time leader in wins with 75, surpassing Matt Hasselbeck. Running back Mike Davis stepped into the starting role for the injured Chris Carson and rushed for 101 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns in their win last week in Arizona. In the victory, the team took a major blow to its defence with the loss of Earl Thomas. Thomas broke his leg and will be out of the lineup for the remainder of the season.
