Football fans are in for a treat (yawn) in Week 11 as the schedule will feature a rematch of one of the most boring Super Bowls ever, with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the New England Patriots at SoFi Stadium.

The Rams sit third in the crowded NFC West at 4-5 after a 23-15 loss against Miami last week, while the 3-7 Patriots are last in the AFC East despite a 19-3 win in Chicago in Week 10.

L.A. opened as six-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 43.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These teams faced off in Super Bowl 53 to conclude the 2018 season, with Tom Brady leading the Pats to a 13-3 victory over Jared Goff and the Rams. It was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in NFL history, but more importantly, marked the end of a New England dynasty that captured six Super Bowls in 18 years.

Back to this season. Although L.A. and New England have similar records, the Rams are in a better playoff position as no one is really running away with the NFC West. Los Angeles is dealing with a tough flight across the country for this game, but home field hasn’t been kind to the Pats, who have lost three of four games at Foxborough this season.

Neither team has been a profitable cover option, with L.A. going 3-6 against the spread and New England going 4-5-1 ATS. It’s the Pats who have the edge in head-to-head action as they’ve covered the spread in six of their last eight games against the Rams.

Both teams are middle of the pack when it comes to totals betting, with the Over/Under splitting 4-5 for L.A. and 5-5 for New England. Head-to-heads have historically been lower scoring, with the total going Under in four of the last five games between the Rams and Pats.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams didn’t manage to score a single touchdown last week against Miami despite generating 327 total yards. It’s only the eighth time in head coach Sean McVay’s eight-year tenure that the Rams failed to score a touchdown. Rookie kicker Joshua Karty accounted for all 15 of L.A.’s points. Matthew Stafford completed 32 of 46 pass attempts for 293 yards and an interception.  Puka Nacua (98 yards, nine receptions) and Cooper Kupp (80 yards, seven receptions) were solid in the air, while Kyren Williams led the team with 62 rushing yards.

New England Patriots

Drake Maye won the battle between top rookie quarterbacks against Caleb Williams and the Bears last week, but it was far from a dominant offensive performance. Maye completed 15 of 25 pass attempts for 184 yards, one touchdown and one interception. It was defence that made the difference in the win, with New England sacking Williams a season-high nine times. Anfernee Jennings and Deatrich Wise Jr. each recorded two sacks. The Patriots held Chicago to an average of just 2.4 yards per play while going 1-of-14 on third down.
