Don’t look know but the Rams and Jaguars can lay claim to be first place teams in their respective divisions. Yes, it’s still technically early in the season, but times are changing in the NFL when these one-time (many time) bottom feeders are hoping to knock on the postseason’s door. This will be only the fifth time these two franchises have met head to head.

The Week 6 NFL odds board has the Jags set as early home favourites.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jaguars are 3-2 on the season (3-2 ATS) and have met the Rams (3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS this year) four times in league history, with the Rams winning three of the games. The last time these two teams met was in 2013, with the Rams winning at home 34-20. The Rams are a perfect 2-0 at home, outscoring opponents 76-69.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams enter this game coming off a loss to the Seattle Seahawks at home 16-10. Entering the game, the Rams offence (second in NFL scoring at 30.4 ppg) was the story of the NFL, but they turned over the ball five times, and that was a key stat in the loss Sunday afternoon. Running back Todd Gurley has had a comeback season and is currently ranked third in league rushing with 405 yards. Of note, receiver Sammy Watkins didn’t have a reception or even a target in the loss to the Seahawks.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are coming off their best performance this season (in years?) with a convincing 30-9 victory over the Steelers in Pittsburgh. The defence was outstanding in the win, holding the Steelers no touchdowns, 0 for 3 in the red zone. The Jags defence also picked off Ben Roethlisberger five times, returning two of them for majors. Rookie running back Leonard Fournette is making a case for Offensive Rookie of the Year, as he scrambled for 181 yards and two touchdowns. He already has 466 yards on the ground, good enough for second in the NFL behind Kansas City’s Kareem Hunt. Quarterback Blake Bortles had his struggles this past Sunday.  Despite the win Bortles threw a career-low 14 passes for 95 yards the entire game.
