Rams vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction
A second straight loss for the Giants has dropped them to 5-10 and their version of “Linsanity” is officially over as Tyrod Taylor is replacing Tommy DeVito at quarterback. The 8-7 Rams have rallied off wins in five of their last six games with the lone loss coming in overtime at league-leading Baltimore.
There’s no quarterback switches in L.A. either, as they reap the benefits of investing in a proven guy under centre. Matthew Stafford’s passed for over 250 yards in four straight games and this Rams offence is as dangerous as they come with the playoffs looming.
Kickoff at MetLife Stadium is set for 1 p.m. EST with the Rams a 5.5-point favourite on the road and the total set at 42 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
When it comes to covering the spread the Rams and Giants are both red hot. L.A.’s 5-0 ATS in their last five games while New York’s 4-1. The Rams have been a good team to back all season though as they are 9-5-1 ATS in the 2023–24 season. But playing on the road is one spot to be hesitant when it comes to L.A. The Rams are 3-4 outright away from home this season and have three wins in their last 14 road games.
The underdog Giants have had their way with the Rams over recent years as New York’s 7-3 int their last 10 meetings with L.A. The Rams are also 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games against the Giants.
Los Angeles Rams
L.A.’s well-rested heading into Week 17 as not only did they last play on December 21, but head coach Sean McVay gave his team an extended Christmas break as the team was completely off from Friday–Monday. The Rams earned that break by going 5-1 after their Week 10 bye and re-establishing themselves as one of the most feared offences in the NFL.
First-year starting running back Kyren Williams is now second in the league with 1,057 rushing yards and has missed four games with injury. William’s 96.1 rushing yards per games is atop the NFL too. And with 352 passing yards — something very doable given the Rams pass-catching weapons — Matthew Stafford can reach 4,000 yards for the 10th time in his career.
New York Giants
Head coach Brian Daboll elected to switch quarterbacks at halftime last Monday as a move to spark his team, and honestly the move worked. New York had three points at the half and then ripped off 22 in the final half to fall 33-25 at Philadelphia. Tyrod Taylor completed seven of 16 pass attempts for 133 yards to go with a touchdown and an interception, also benefiting from a 76-yard Adoree’ Jackson pick-six.
The Giants are now presumably rolling with Taylor at quarterback for these final two games. Taylor’s the most reliable option they have too; Tommy DeVito’s coming off a 24-6 loss and 20-3 halftime deficit, and in reality cracked 200 passing yards in six opportunities at quarterback. Taylor’s passed for 200 yards (the bar’s pretty low in New York) in both of his two full games.
