Rams vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction
The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles won a title rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs last week. Now, they host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in a rematch of from last season’s NFC Divisional Round.
Los Angeles is one of three NFC West teams to start the season 2-0. They bring a top 10-ranked offence and defence into Philadelphia after giving the Eagles perhaps their toughest outing in four postseason games last year.
The Eagles, also 2-0, lead the NFC East after taking down the Chiefs in Kansas City, 20-17.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Rams are 3.5-point underdogs on the NFL odds with a current moneyline price of +155. They are 2-0 against the spread this season and 13-4 straight up and ATS since mid-October last year.
Philadelphia’s money line is at -190. The Eagles are 1-1 ATS this year after covering last week as a 1.5-point road favourite in Kansas City. The Over/Under is listed at 44.5 points.
Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles, along with the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, is considered one of the best bets to unseat the Eagles as NFC champs.
They’ve gotten the job done twice to start the season, first with a grinding 14-9 victory over the Houston Texans and with a strong second-half performance last week in their 33-19 triumph at the Tennessee Titans.
Their aggressive defence is again causing havoc, with five sacks of rookie Cam Ward last week. Puka Nacua is again a Swiss Army knife. He had eight catches for 91 yards and ran for a 45-yard touchdown.
Veteran Davante Adams, acquired in the offseason, had 106 yards and a touchdown on six catches and continues to bond with quarterback Matthew Stafford (71 per cent completion rate through two weeks).
Philadelphia Eagles
Not only is Philadelphia attempting to become the ninth franchise to repeat as Super Bowl champions, but the Eagles are also trying to become the first team to repeat as NFC East champs since they did so for four straight years between 2001 and 2004.
Coach Nick Sirianni’s squad is on quite a run, having won seven straight and 17 of 18 dating back to last season.
The team has edged out both the Dallas Cowboys in their 24-20 season opener and last week at Kansas City. The Eagles were outgained by the Chiefs, 294-216, and Jalen Hurts only threw for 101 yards, but he had a rushing TD, and Saquon Barkley added 88 yards and a score on the ground.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Rams vs. Eagles?
The Rams are on a 7-0 streak against the spread in road contests, and are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as underdogs. Unsurprisingly, they are a popular public pick to dethrone the Eagles this season.
However, Barkley is still running roughshod over the Rams’ defence. He tallied 460 rushing yards (8.8 ypc) in two meetings with Los Angeles last season, both Eagles wins.
In those two contests, which finished as a 37-20 road victory during the regular season and a 28-22 playoff win at home, Barkley combined for four touchdowns of 60 yards or longer.
Los Angeles isn’t fazed by the Eagles. They won’t cower at the sight of Lincoln Financial Field. And the Rams should push Philadelphia throughout Sunday’s contest. But this Eagles team just knows how to win, so I’m looking for Barkley, Hurts and the Eagles’ defence to find a way to win yet again and post a 24-17 victory.
