Rams vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction

The Colts didn’t fare too well in their season opener, though, losing to the Seattle Seahawks 28-16 in Carson Wentz’s first game with the team. Will the Rams continue to prove that they are Super Bowl contenders and improve to 2-0 on the year, or will the Colts avoid falling to 0-2 and pick up a statement win?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last five games when coming into the matchup as the favorite. They are also 9-1 ATS in their past 10 matchups when going up against teams with a losing record overall. In the past 12 games the Rams have played, the under has cashed out in 10 of those matchups. With two elite defenses going head-to-head, the under could once again be incredibly enticing.

The Colts are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four games at home. They are even worse when they are playing at home and are the underdog, as they sit at 0-8 straight up when that happens.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams look to be Super Bowl contenders already with Matthew Stafford fitting right in with the team. He was comfortable and dominant in Week 1, throwing for 321 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception in his debut. Darrell Henderson Jr. was also their lead back in that matchup and is likely to get the bulk of the carries once again against the Colts.

Stafford gave this offense a big shot in the arm as his big arm was on display. He took the top off of the defense twice with two 50+ yard touchdown passes. That’s an element that was clearly missing with Jared Goff under center. With the offense scoring more, moving the chains more and holding onto the ball more, the job of the defense was much easier. We’ll see if they can maintain that in Week 2.

Speaking of the Rams defense, they dominated as well, forcing three turnovers and holding Chicago to just 14 points.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts didn’t have that strong of an opening week. Their defense allowed the Seattle Seahawks to get a nice lead early on and it didn’t look like they could recover. That group did end up locking things down in the second half, but it was too late.

Carson Wentz got the start in this matchup despite suffering a foot injury in the offseason and looked decent. He threw for two touchdowns and a 102-passer rating but refused to let the ball go deep. He did start the day going 9-of-10 on his first 10 passes. He continued to check it down to his halfbacks throughout the game and it could be him but it could be the fact that the team doesn’t have great weapons. If this Indianapolis team wants to avoid falling to 0-2 on the year, Wentz will have to be more confident throwing the football or else this could get ugly.
