Rams vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 3 Odds, Prediction
The Broncos named a starting quarterback earlier this week, but still have some uncertainty at running back and wide receiver. The Rams are right there with them, embroiled in their own backfield controversy.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Denver is an overwhelming favourite despite having already tabbed Teddy Bridgewater as the Week 1 starter, effectively ending the competition for the job with one exhibition game left. Both he and Drew Lock are expected to see action over the weekend, and oddsmakers are expecting the Broncos to put forth a much stronger offensive effort than the visitors. Denver has been a dreadful home cover in recent preseasons, going just 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games.
Neither team is expected to do much with the football according to the books, who have set the total for Saturday’s encounter at a rock-bottom 33.5 (with the Over and Under at an even -110). Denver has played to the Under in eight of its previous 12 exhibition games at Mile High, including a 17-9 win over the Rams back in 2016. Los Angeles, meanwhile, is on a seven-game Under streak in preseason play, with five of those games producing fewer than 30 points.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams have designs on getting back to the Super Bowl – so when they lost starting running back Cam Akers to a season-ending injury, it was clear that they would bring in a reinforcement. Enter Sony Michel, who was acquired from the New England Patriots on Tuesday for a pair of draft picks and is expected to compete with Darrell Henderson for carries from the get-go. Michel had back-to-back 900-yard rushing seasons with the Pats in 2018 and 2019.
Denver Broncos
With their QB1 conundrum now behind them, the Broncos can use their final preseason tilt to sort out some of their other offensive issues. It’s unclear how Denver will split carries between Melvin Gordon III and rookie Javonte Williams, though bettors and fans might get some clarity based on how each player is used Saturday. And there’s just as much uncertainty on how the wide receiver targets will be distributed between Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and others.
