Rams vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction

The Niners opened as 2.5-point home favourites with a total of 49.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

San Francisco has won double-digit games in each of the past three regular seasons and reached at least the NFC title game in each and lost last season’s Super Bowl in Kansas City in overtime. I believe all those extra games, practices, etc., caught up to this year’s club that might miss the postseason entirely.

The Niners have been obliterated by injuries in 2024 with two Pro Bowlers out for the season in running back and 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey and wideout Brandon Aiyuk – who got a massive extension on the eve of the season. It’s also very expensive to keep this talented a roster together, and the championship window perhaps is closing because the Niners will have to give quarterback Brock Purdy a massive extension this offseason.

The Rams aren’t a real Super Bowl threat, either, but they might sneak into the postseason. Their best player, defensive tackle and three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald, retired this offseason so a step back from last year’s 10-7 club was expected.

Los Angeles goes for the season sweep after an unlikely 27-24 home win in Week 3. Unlikely as San Francisco led 24-14 with just over six minutes left, but the Rams won it on 37-yard field goal in the final seconds. Kyren Williams had three TD rushes for the Rams. It was L.A.’s second straight win over the 49ers after losing nine of the NFC West archrivals’ previous 10 meetings including playoffs.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams slowed red-hot Buffalo on Sunday night in probably the wildest NFL game of the season, 44-42, as the Bills became the first team in NFL history with at least six touchdowns scored and zero turnovers to lose a game. It was the most points allowed in a victory by Los Angeles since a memorable 54-51 Monday night win over Kansas City in 2018 and got the team over .500 for the first time this season. Matthew Stafford threw for 320 yards and two scores and now has 10 passing TDs and zero picks in his past four. Puka Nacua caught 12 passes for 162 yards and a scores while also rushing for a touchdown – just the fourth player this century with at least 150 receiving yards and both a receiving and rushing score in a game (first player in franchise history). Kyren Williams rushed for 87 yards and two TDs.  The Rams’ offence, which entered the game 30th in third-down conversion rate this season, was 11-of-15 on third down. That was the team’s highest third-down conversion per centage in a game since December 2001. The Rams are 7-1 ATS in their past eight December games.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers also were pretty impressive on Sunday in trashing visiting Chicago 38-13 to snap a three-game losing streak in the team’s first game since losing its top two running backs to season-ending injury. Fourth-round rookie Isaac Guerendo took over as the featured back against the Bears and had 78 yards and two scores on 15 carries. However, he left the game with a possible foot sprain. Brock Purdy threw for two scores, both to Jauan Jennings. The 38 points were a season high for the Niners and more than they totaled during their three-game skid. Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams and pass-rusher Nick Bosa both missed another game injured. Left guard Ben Bartch left the game injured – he was starting for injured left guard Aaron Banks. The Niners are 4-10 ATS in their past 14 at home.
