Patriots vs. Raiders Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction

There’s certainly better days ahead for the New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders, especially since one of these clubs will earn a win when they face off this Sunday. The 1-4 Patriots have had a messy start to the season, generating a league-low 55 points this season while facing questions at the quarterback position. The Raiders snapped a three-game losing streak last week but aren’t much better when it comes to scoring; Las Vegas’ 15.8 points per outing ranks third-worst in the NFL.

Kickoff at Allegiant Stadium gets going at 4:05 p.m. EDT, with Las Vegas a three-point favourite on the spread and the total at 41.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Both clubs’ actual records, New England (1-4), Las Vegas (2-3), reflect their fates against the spread too. Both teams are 4-1 to the under this season too, which again is large in part to their bottom three offences this year. Head-to-head, New England’s taken six of their last seven meetings with Las Vegas. The Pats are 4-2 ATS in their last six trips out west to play the Raiders. The Raiders came out on top last season versus New England in the infamous Jakobi Meyers last-second lateral.

New England’s now 1-8 ATS in their last nine outings, while Las Vegas comes in covering in eight of their last 12 home contests. Seven straight Raiders games versus an AFC East opponent have finished over the total, but Sunday will be the ultimate test to see if the points persist.

New England Patriots

For the second straight week, Bailey Zappe — a pivot New England cut earlier this season — replaced Mac Jones at quarterback. Jones and the Patriots suffered a 34-0 loss last week versus New Orleans, seven days removed from a 38-3 loss at Dallas. Jones committed six turnovers and generated 260 passing yards total in the two defeats but he remains the starting quarterback per head coach Bill Belichick.

Part of the problem seems to be Jones’ weapons. Rhamondre Stevenson is averaging 2.8 yards per rush on 68 attempts, Ezekiel Elliott isn’t the player he once was, and only Kendrick Bourne has passed 200 receiving yards through this team’s first five games.

Las Vegas Raiders

Jimmy Garoppolo returned at quarterback last week after a one-game absence and did what he does best: lead an offence to about 280 yards and 17 points and get a close win. Las Vegas nearly blew away their 17-13 victory over Green Bay but an Amik Robertson interception sealed the win for Las Vegas. The interception was one of three for the Raiders on the night, the other two both ending in the hands of first-year Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane.

Aside from a 38-10 drubbing via Buffalo in Week 2, every Raiders outing has finished as a one-score game this season. Offensive production is mainly why Las Vegas can’t pull away, as they’re fourth-last in yards per game (281.2) despite having a star receiver in Davante Adams and elite running back in Josh Jacobs.
