The Patriots are coming off one of their worst regular season losses in the Bill Belichick era, and they’ve had an extra week to stew over the setback as they prepare for the New York Jets.

Things aren’t going well for Gang Green. New York’s other football team is 0-4 straight up and against the spread over the last four weeks. Even worse, NYJ has scored just 26 total points in its last three games.

The Patriots lost 41-10 at Tennessee two weeks ago despite going into the game as 6.5-point favourites. The result snapped a six-game winning streak and left a bad taste in the mouths of New England backers who were enjoying a 5-1 ATS run.

Pats fans will be happy to know their team is still among the top contenders to win the Super Bowl according to Sports Interaction. New England’s odds to win the Super Bowl are +600 at Sports Interaction. Only the Rams (+333), Saints (+333) and Chiefs (+500) have shorter odds to win the Super Bowl.

New England Patriots

The bye week should provide a big boost for New England. The extra time off allowed tight end Rob Gronkowski and receiver Julian Edelman to heal up. Gronk missed the last two games because of a sore back while Edelman hurt his ankle in the game against the Titans in Week 10.

Gronk and Edelman rank third and fourth on the team in receiving yards despite each missing large chunks of the season.

New York Jets

Sam Darnold is the future for the Jets but his future might not include taking the field on Sunday. The rookie quarterback sat out last weekend’s blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills because of a sprained ankle and he’s questionable to play this weekend because of the same injury.

Veteran QB Josh McCown threw for 135 yards and two interceptions on 34 pass attempts against the Bills. The line was ugly, but it wasn’t anything different from what the Jets had been getting from Darnold. New York owns the second worst team passer rating in the NFL this season at 64.9.
