Patriots vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
The New England Patriots were rocked in their most recent game, losing 24-3 to the Los Angeles Rams. They were coming into that matchup with a ton of momentum after a 45-0 win over the Los Angeles Chargers but apparently, the other Los Angeles team was not as kind to them.
This week, they make the trip to Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins who are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFL Week 15 Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The under is 5-0 in the Patriots last five games overall and 4-0 in their past four games when coming into the matchup as the underdog. New England is also 5-1 ATS in their past six games played on grass and 21-5 ATS after totaling less than 250 total offensive yards in the game prior.
Meanwhile, the under is 7-1 in the Dolphins past eight games when coming in as the favorite and 5-1 in their last six when coming into the game as the home favorite. Miami is 7-0 ATS in their last seven games when allowing more than 30 points in the game prior and 5-0 ATS in their past five games when coming off a straight up loss in their previous matchup.
New England Patriots
With Cam Newton under center, the Patriots have been struggling on offense the entire season. The team has clearly struggled to fill the void that Tom Brady left in the offseason for this offense. They have minimal threats at the wide receiver and tight end position and will need to get their passing game going if they want to beat a hot Dolphins team this week. That’s hard to picture, though, as Newton has a total of 272 passing yards combined over his last three games.
Just lining up and running the ball won’t work here for the Patriots. They will need takeaway from their defense and help from special teams to win here.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins may have lost their last game to the Kansas City Chiefs but they were able to fight until the dying seconds. The fact that they can go toe-to-toe with the league’s best unit is a good sign. They were able to intercept MVP front runner Patrick Mahomes three times, which is more interceptions than he has thrown all season. Their defense was able to hold up about as best as they could even in the loss and should be getting back a few key pieces to their defense such as Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts, who each missed their last game.
Their offense, though, is going to have to be ready for this Patriots defense that has ripped apart opposing rookie quarterbacks. It’s a Bill Belichick signature to make young quarterbacks struggle. Tua Tagovailoa will have to be prepared for all sorts of misdirection, confusion and schemes. If he takes care of the ball, the Dolphins likely win.
