The Dolphins offence came back to life with last week’s 34-19 home win over the Raiders and they have a great chance to boost their playoff hopes even further this week against New England. The Patriots’ dismal season continued with a 28-24 home loss against the Rams in Week 11 and they now sit a game or two away from officially being eliminated from the postseason.

Miami is a seven-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 46.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Dolphins have won eight of the last 10 head-to-heads, including a sluggish 15-10 meeting this season in Week 5. Miami’s Jaylen Wright and Raheem Mostert combined for 166 rushing yards in the absence of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the game finished without a single passing TD from either team.

This is a bit of a fork in the road for both teams this week as neither has been a good option for bettors. The Pats are 4-6-1 against the spread and the Dolphins are 4-6 ATS. Miami’s been the hotter team lately, covering in three straight games. It’s also worth noting that New England has failed to cover in eight straight games against the Phins.

New England Patriots

The Patriots dropped to 3-8 on the year with last week’s loss and they look all but guaranteed to miss the playoffs for a third straight year. The one upside has been the play of rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who completed 30 of 40 pass attempts for 282 yards, two TDs and one interception against L.A. The 30 completions and 282 yards were both season-highs. Through six starts, Maye has a 66.8 completion percentage (15th in the NFL), throwing for 1,236 yards, nine TDs and six interceptions. The 22-year-old looks like he’ll be a legit starter in the league.

Miami Dolphins

Miami’s offence isn’t reaching the historic levels it performed at last season, but the wheels are turning in the right direction after putting up 30 points for the first time this year in Week 11. Tagovailoa was sharp last week, completing 28 of 36 pass attempts for 288 yards and three TDs. Jonnu Smith finished with a season-high 101 receiving yards and two TDs, while De’Von Achane led the way with 73 rushing yards and a score. Tyreek Hill also picked up a receiving TD for the second straight game after snapping the longest streak of his career without a TD in Week 10.
